Looking to convert my 97 GST spyder to all wheel drive. Need to be steered in the right direction. Location Las Vegas.

Steal a GSX and start stripping :D J/K!!! It's alot of time and money bro start saving, buy a '95 GSX and take off all the parts you need then put your FWD parts on it and sell it as a GST thats prob the cheapest way but takes the most time.

isn't there risk of the chassis bending/twisting if you do this? i'm just guessing being that there wouldn't be as much support as in a coupe....i guess it all depends on just how much power you plan to produce. goodluck tho!

Well I guess it depends on how you drive the car, if you have a 600hp AWD Spyder and drive it like a MADMAN all the time and do dumb $hit I guess it's possible but if you put in a nice rollbar, strut tower braces, sways etc. I think the chassis would be pretty solid... certainly enough for a street car!

The spyder is pretty rigid, if the non conv. eclipse can hold it, the spyder would be more than able to, but its also awd, so all 4 wheels turn not the rear two, so it should be fine!

aight, i just heard somewhere that the reason mitsubishi didn't make a gsx spyder was that it wouldn't be strong enough. that's gonna cost ALOT to do also, why not just buy a gsx?

In Las Vegas? care to make a trip? Give me a call at the shop if you want to seriously do this right.. We not only have the know how to transform the car correctly, but we have the first awd spyder in the world :)

P.S. Repeated launching on an awd spyder without proper fortification WILL make the frame bend and twist.. take it from me ;)

Hey StockSpyder, about how much does it cost to get it converted to AWD???

Well the cost of just the conversion isnt much.. you are looking at about 2-3k. However the cost of the parts is what you must be frugal about. Strengthening of the chassis is a must.. i have a rollbar, subframe connectors and a custom rearend setup.

hrmmm im interested can u pls gimme some figures its something i will do within the next 7 years... hahaha i need to save money...
