Ported out just the exhaust housing inlet and wg outlet. Dont really have to go port crazy.

Good. After matching the j-pipe inlet to the pipe and then porting the comp. housing to that, I would be taking ~1/8 out!

Plus, I really don't feel like taking apart my brand spankin' new turbo.

i know how you feel brotha

i didnt port mine at all when i got it. it was too pretty. still spool up too fast :p

Mine was ported when I first got it, but now that it's out being swapped to my other car I'm "port matching" all inlets and outlets, plus I'm smoothing out all the rough casting bumps in the scroll area inside the compressor housing.

You pretty much MUST port the exhaust side, or you will have boost creep. If your car running especially well, even a good port job alone will not do, you will have to use larger flapper valve or go to an external WG. You should also port the O2 housing.

Porting the compressor housing is a waste of time or money…

I'm surprised you guys just make a blanket statement that porting the compressor housing is a waste of time.

That's certainly not the case all the time. The Big16g is a prime candidate for a good port job and extrude hone.

I am/have ported the exhaust housing. My little 16G has the upgraded flapper and I am running a full RNR exhaust. I am waiting for its' arrival so to see if I should port anymore.

My main concern was the compresor side. The tiny outlet to the bigger j-pipe flange, to the even bigger pipe bothered me.

FYI: I am not too happy with the turbochargers.com "installation kit" bolt on, my arse.
