I've asked this already on dsmtalk.com but i just wanted a wide range of opinions. Right now my 1g awd has 3" turbo back exhaust, mbc at 15psi and a K&N filter with the air can mods(still have stock turbo and stock fuel system). With this I ran 14.0 @ 95 mph. With a fuel pump(more boost) and a little tuning i know i can get solidly into the 13s but i was wondering what would lower my times better, a front mount that flows 1000cfm w/ 1.5 pressure drop at mid 80s efficiency or just bolting on a big 16g with no other changes rather than a fuel pump? Thanks a lot.

i would go with the FMIC for more power, but it also depends on how warm it is where you live/race i guess. At night and when it is damp out i can feel a big increase in power rather than the hot day.

Ah, this sounds like the Spoolinup.com intercooler--the cooler. :) I want this too and cannot make up my mind. I am not sure where "STL" is, so I don't know how hot it gets where you live. If you are planning on continuing to modify the car, you will need a FMIC eventually. The 16G will give you more "kick" right now, but you won't be able to take full advantage of it until you get a FMIC. I am not sure--this is a tough one. Unless you live in a hot climate, I'd say go with the 16G. It would be more fun. However, realize that without fuel upgrades (which you stated you have not done), you cannot run much over 14 or 15 PSI.

You would surprised how much cooler a 16g will run over a 14b. Right now Forced Performance is selling a big 16g for 600 bucks. I remember when I thought RRE selling them for 700 was insane. But you will get a bigger performance gain with a 16g and the stock sidemount vs the 14b and a huge front mount.

I live in St. Louis, MO. But yeah i think that i will go with the big 16g from forced performance. That is the cooler from spoolinup that i was talking about. But the deal from forced performance just seems too good to pass up. I know you can find these turbos used for cheaper, but this is all new stuff and it comes with the gaskets, lines, and a fuel pump (the 1g kit for 899). And the turbo is ported and has the bigger wastegate. Thanks for the help.

In my upgrad path my turbo is the last thing to be upgraded. I have been running an IRC Street Core FMIC since Feb on my 14b and what a difference it has made. I would suggest the FMIC before the turbo..

My new T3/T4 50 trim.. is going in this week. :D

My 14b was going out so, rather than spend the money to rebuild it, then later buy a 16g, i just got the 16g minus the turbine housing and had that stuck on by my mechanic buddy. At the same boost, I can feel the power, even without my exhaust (going on TODAY!!!!). Plus, a 16g sounds WAY cooler than a failing 14b. (everyone knows if you SOUND fast you go fast).

I just hope I can convince myself to save up for a new fuel pump and a new exhaust manifold- mine's cracked in 3 damn places, but not too bad.

EVOIII HEERE I COME!!!

IMO i would go with FMIC first...there have been plenty of 14b's to break into the 13's and even 12's...i don't think you should upgrade a turbo until it becomes the thing that is holding you back from going any faster...plus, if you wait till the turbo becomes your biggest restiction, when you upgrade to a bigger one you should allready have the supporting mods you need for it...just my thoughts, if it's not broke don't try to fix it...
