I've been talking to Mike over at SBR for quite some time now and finally come to a conclusion on the turbo I'm going to go with. I have a blown td05-16g that is being rebuilt to a 20g. I have a couple of things that I need opinions on. Please only respond with answers related with the 20g. I have decided that the 20g is my turbo, so please no "just get a green or L2R" posts. I have all the supporting mods minus the FMIC oh and BTW I only have 550's. (ill be getting 660s and all that other good stuff this summer ) My goal is close to 375-400. Keep in mind I have a FWD and some lag would be nice.

First off, the 20g is going to be using the tdo5 compressor cover. With the 20g wheel inside the td05 compressor cover, how much less efficient will that be..compared to the td06 cover?

Second is the turbine side. With the turbo being a td05, I'm stuck between a my td05 wheel clipped or a td06, maybe td06h. I look at is as a 16g or big 16g question, which it probably isn't. Do you think my goals will be possible with the td05 wheel? or should i set up and do the td06? I've gotten all sorts of answers from all sorts of people. So ANY thing you guys can help me out with would be great.

Oh yeah, and if you guys know CFM's on any of those combos that'd be great. I know the td06-20g is suppose to flow 650 CFM.

Happy Boosting:D

Why dont you talk to Mike about this and just trust what he says. I cant imagine wha ta 20g wheel would be like in a td05 cover...makes no sense to me. Id rather have a 16g if that were the case, i would imagine it would heat up the charge a little more than having a normal 20g tdo06 comp cover.... If you want a 20g then get yours rebuilt to a normal td05 20g. Im sre Mike will have more acurate input fo ryou on this...

go with the tdo6 20g. the tdo5 spools but i was told that its maybe a 300-500 rpm difference. talk to mike. he's setting me up with a td06 20g with a 15-18 degree clip for a great price. that guy rules. last time i talked to him he asked me how i was doing. i have NEVER been asked that by a dsm vendor. he also sent me a manual rack for the awd by mistake and let me take three weeks to pay him for it. (i didnt want to send it backLOL if he makes a recomendation (sp?) then i would go with that.

BR20g has the fastest 20G time, it uses a heavily clipped TDO5H exhaust wheel.
TDO6 wheel doesn't perform as in the real world as it does on paper in my experience. A unclipped TDO6 wheel made 5psi more backpressure than a 17 degree clipped TDO5H wheel at 6k. As always YMMV.

Using the smaller cover you will be loosing top end power and the turbo will not perform as well at higher boost on racegas (vs TDO6).

Are you talking about the exhaust manifold pressure is 5 psi more with the TD06 wheel. Is this something you tested? I always wondered if anybody has tested the exhaust manifold pressure/intake manifold pressure for various turbos. Keeping that ratio low has alot to do with making power.

Ok made up my mind finally.:D I'm just going to go with the SBR 2g 20g
Basically its a modified t3 comp cover with a 20g comp wheel mitsu center and with td05 wheel. Im getting it ported and clipped as well. Hopefully it does me good. This is going to be my first turbo..

....now only if i can get traction

Any update on the sbr 2g - 20G. Im curious about that turbo and Im wondering how it preformed for you.
