Is FP Green worth if for me?
I'm debating whether or not to get rid of my Green for something smaller. I'm debating this because my car is a street car and I never go over 18psi. Am I wasting the potential of my Green by not going over 18psi? On pump gas and 18psi, I was only able to make 310whp. Would I have better results with a different turbo at 18psi and pump? If so, which should be my turbo of choice?

I'd rather not take that chance. I just want to know which turbo would be best for me if since I do not want to run anymore than 20psi on pump.

Take it to Elite Autosports and have Shane figure it out.
There is most likely something slightly wrong.

I dyno'ed it at Elite, and Shane was tuning it. He told me he was surprised at the low numer HP output. He just shrugged his shouler's and said "hmm, that was dissapointing". I have done the intake leak test and everything seemed fine. Don't know whatelse to check.

There's alot more to just tuning it. He's a competent tuner, so that's why something else is missing.
Call him and ask him if he could give it a once over.
You have web cams, they might need degree'd.
There's a bunch of other little things as well.

As long as the car is happy and knocking and egt's are fine, I don't see what you can't run more than 18psi on pump gas. I've ran as much as 1.4 bar on mine on pump gas. Do you have any idea how much air you flowing (lbs/min) at 18 psi?

I'm one of the guys you raced at the Import vs Domestic shootout down in Iowa. If you are serious about going smaller, I will trade you my small 16G and some cash for that green.
But, I really do think there is something wrong with the car, or possibly even the turbo. maybe borrow someones turbo, slap it on, and make a dyno pull. If it makes power its a problem with your green. if not, then you got issues. i dont know what it could be though, those numbers sorta blow

Have you done the simple things? Plugs, wires, fuel filter? it may sound stupid, but you would be surprised how much power something as little as a worn plug will suck. Also how is your compression?

As for the little stuff, I'll take care of that in the coming weeks. I haven't tested my compression so maybe I'll check that out. I'm pretty sure that's not it though.

What do guys think a Green should be making on 18psi and pump gas anyhow? Not everyone is Dre and making 430hp on 22psi(not sure what he dyno'd at) and pump gas. I'm sure his #'s would come up considerably if he turned up the boost to around 20-21psi. Of course i'm speculating, but I would think he would be making around 340ish. To me, thats not all that shabby. Those #'s would be even better on some race gas. There are alot of unknown variables such as if he was getting any knock, max timing, a/r ratio (I think most tune for around 11:1 or so on pump) etc. We don't have any of this info. I would stick with your Green personally. Like I said, I would be interested in knowing how much air your actually flowing. Good Luck.

My bad, I thought you might know via your logging software. I get my #'s from the DSMlink. I'm flowing around 40lbs/min @20psi/7000 rpms's. I know i have some boost leaks(tb shaft seals), but havn't gotten around to replacing them yet. I'm somewhat limited due to my stock 2g head and intake mani. The green's max I believe is 50lbs/min. I would think to be reaching that, one would need a ported head, sm intake, and 272 or equiv intake cam. I could be wrong, but I don't see my car in its current state flowing that much air. Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic. Do you know what a/f ratio he tuned for on the dyno and how much timing you were getting and also knock retard?
Check your pm's

Green is about one of the best performing turbos on pump gas, infact there really isn't much that would do any better. It runs very efficient at 20psi if not more efficient then at 18psi. Turn up the boost to 21 -22psi. You should be fine as long as you're tuned well. I'd say it should make about 340whp if not a bit more.

I think my A/F was 11.5:1. I didn't have a pocket logger or anything like that to see what kind of timing I was pulling. I'm currently looking for a 95 Eprom so I can get the DSMLink to see if it will help out. Oh well.

Your unhappy with 310whp at 18psi? Thats pretty good if you ask me. As long as you can get 93 or 94 octane gas then you will be just fine at 20psi of boost. You should pick up another 20-25hp with the extra 2 psi. Honestly as everybody else has said the Green (a 50trim T3/t4) is an amazing pump gas turbo and it sounds like your well tuned and making good HP vs. boost.
Not sure what you thought you would get.. 350 wheel at 18psi? Havn't seen many of those...

@ 18psi I would guestimate around 335-345whp or somewhere around there. Atleast thats where I plan on being. I want to do 375 on pump @ 20-21psi on my 50trim.
Regardless I wouldnt be upset making 310whp @ 18psi

I made 308whp on 19psi on a 16g and 94octane.
A whole lot less mods too.
Seeing how many people are doing right up around 400whp on 20-ish PSI and a Green, I wouldn't have been that happy myself.
Don't settle for ANYTHING under 340-350whp with your setup.
Remember the LITTLE things count.
I'm not talking about the basics either, I'm talking IC pipe alignment, intake temperature, general outside temperature, exhaust flange welding, etc. There's a ton more as well, I could talk for hours about the little things. But if you can't think, then I can't type.
FWIW: I've seen 60-1's making over 360whp at 16-17psi. A green should make more than that at same boost level.

IM sorry, but please explaine HOW many people are doing this. Do you have list of people in front of you? Or are you just basing this off of info you have heard? I dont think there are more than a handfull of people, making even close to 400whp, on pump, at 20psi from the Green. And iM sure that all of those cars are running full management, with super tuning. Im not trying to be an AZZ to you. I just dont like when people make trivial comments without any thing to back up thier statements.
