I actually have a couple of questions. 1-will a non turbo block(pistons, rods, crank, etc,) work in a turbo application? I have a non turbo block and a turbo head. will they work together?

non turbo block has no oil squirters and the compression ratio on piston is like 10:1 so no don't waste your time. Non turbo head and turbo heads are the same casting but the cams and springs are different. A turbo head will work on a non turbo car but no vice versa. Hope this helps.

what are you planning on doing then, turboing your non turbo? You can use the non turbo block but don't run high boost with those weak non turbo pistons, just switch out the non turbo pistons and get a set of lower compression or stronger pistons and put them in the block and it will be the same as a turbo block minus the oil squirters.

the tranny's are different, i think the turbo block fits a non turbo tranny but the non turbo block wont be able to fit the turbo tranny

i turbocharged a non-turbo motor and ran 8psi all day long with no trouble, so don't listen to all of the old schoolers that tell you it can't be done. it takes a lot of work and you'll finish the job with a few handfuls of hair missing from your head, but it is possible. just keep the boost low. i actually eventually rebuilt my bottom end with JE's, a new crank and new rods because i wanted the power, but my n/t engine still ran fine when i pulled it out. it is true that as soon as you turbocharge the engine, anything that isn't in good working order will break soon thereafter, as well as all the tranny's you'll go through. if you do use the engine with a turbocharger, replace the tranny with one from a turbo car (remember the turbo-tranny's have a step for the tranny mount so you'll need the tranny mount from a turbo car as well) and upgrade your clutch if you can afford it, just to save yourself some hassle down the road.

hope i could help
