Went to the Altered Atmosphere Dyno day last Saturday and put the Talon on their AWD dyno. First, I gotta say....the shop is bad-ass, period.

I'll make this short: Made three pulls:

19psi - 257.4 HP 275 TQ

20psi - 263.1 HP 281.7 TQ

21psi - 265.9 HP 281.7 TQ ---yes, same peak TQ

So, there you have it. I was pretty psyched. Also, from 4100 up to 6800 the car was running rich, as rich as 10.8:1 around 5000, still with stock injectors, now, that doeasn't mean the duty cycle isn't near maxed, but, whatever.....I think I can put an AFC on only, and gain some more power. It ran a tad lean, in the 14's between 2500 and 3000, so I need to add a litttle fuel there. I leaned out last Nov. because of how cold it was....but in these temps, I should be fine, so the dyno says.

Peak HP was at 5860 rpm

Peak TQ was at 3450 rpm or so

Anyway, there is definitely more to be had from the 14b. So, I won't jump the gun and throw the Big 16G on yet........I'm still shootin for 11's on the 14b, and I'll try it without having to add a 2g mas and injectors......I'll go once again the way the car is now, then I'll try on the AFC, then maybe the 2g mas and injectors. So, finally, we have some dyno numbers...I was very impressed, mostly by the high TQ number, I was figuring on 250 HP at the wheels though, with 112-113 trap speeds and my race weight of 2820 lbs.

Take care guys, I'll keep all interested posted on new developments....

Phil Beers(Phil1320)

ps- I have run as much as 23.5 psi out of the little 14b, but 20-21 is where I run the most so I didn't feel it neccesary to dyno at higher than 21....but, its possible a tad more HP was there.

great numbers! I have my 14B on my buddies bench just waiting to get installed.

I dyno'd my T25 at 202hp and 242tq @ 15psi. I estimate I'm at 205-210hp now w/ my current mods.

Phil did you dyno those numbers on straight C16 like you usually run at the track?

I'm just curious if i should try C16 on my car with the 14b. I've been running straight VP 110 in it with good luck. I'm still on the stock downpipe and gutted cat.

.yes, VP 116 octane......for safety and power..........I always run VP.

Thanks guys! Yes, wheel HP on Altered's AWD chassis dyno......

....crank should be at or slightly above 300 HP with torque around 325 or so...

Different dyno, different temperature, different octane and he probably has a lot of mods on the car.

Not even close. LOL

Phil has a ported o2 housing with dump mod, *2.5"* downpipe, 3" ATR cat back, ported 95 manifold, Underdrive crank pulley, MBC, K&N W/ hacked air can and........................that's it in the power production department.

The car has gone a best ET of 12.0 with a best mph of 113mph.

Phil, nice numbers congrats. Just about where we figured eh? :thumb:

Craig mentioned coming down for a weekend...I might join him. :)

Phil, I was there at AA. You put down some good numbers considering you had no fuel control or upgraded injectors. You should get into the low 300's w/ that Big16G you were talkin about. Way to go.

He is bound to have some other little stuff isnt he?

What about intercooler pipes, clutch and so on?

A clutch doesn't make power, and that's what we are talking about here. Phil is a friend and no he has stock IC pipes. Everything I listed is what he has to make power except for one thing I left out. Fuel pump upgrade. That's it. :)

What up Jay-Hauss!!!

Yea, that is sick. Maybe I should strip my car and throw some good race gas in my tank and push that boost up to 21psi!:)

Whatever, that's a damn good time on a 14b. I *hope* to get that time here on pump gas with a full load and an L2R next year...:)

I wonder if Phil knows Tony Johnson or Charles Pettis, or Eric B.

Phil - you ever been down Vst (or Rte. 50) in D.C. back in the day when we was kings of "Fast-n-Furious"??

Probably not, Phil is from my area. He just moved to Baltimore and is working for Extreme. :)

C-16 rules! I'm going to try it next time. Phil, do you think there is any more power to be had after 21 psi?

Have any of you guys ever run at the track with disconnected exhaust (i mean no downpipe,no nothing)?

I made a little dump pipe (using the flange off a stock downpipe and adding about 4 inches). Going to try it next time out.

I would have figured Phils HP and TQ to be alot higher. To run 113 MPH at 2850 pounds requires around 330 HP to the wheels not engine. Don't get me wrong, don't start flaming me, whatever Phil is doing results in 12.0 ETs on the 14B and you can't bash that! :thumb:

I'm just doing some comparing. I put down 252 HP at AMS in Chicago with my 14B at 15 psi, on 93 octane, with a 35 knock count!! A freind with a similar setup to mine (Supra sidemount) put down 265 HP. The best either of us could do was mid/low 13s. Phil must be a hell of good driver!!

Or.....His HP and TQ graphs are very flat with good power throughout the RPM band and mine is rather peaky with less power under the curve. Sometimes peak power can be misleading. My numbers were on a two-wheel dyno where Phil is on an AWD dyno. I wonder how the two really compare.

Again, I am in no way bashing Phil or his HP numbers, just trying to make sense of them. Phil is a hero in my book and I aspire to run as fast as he does!

Maybe you are just a bad driver! j/k

My mustang ran in the 114 mph range with 340 rwhp at 3250 lbs so i can believe phils mph with 400 less lbs. Mph can vary sometimes with tailwinds, very good air,and different tracks. Some of those MD guys are lucky. They are always running at corrected elevations well below sea level.

Phil's 113mph trap came with a weight lower than 2850lbs. That was his old weight before some additional reduction.

Expect #'s about 7-10hp higher on a 2wd dyno.

any work done to your 14b (porting/clippping)? What fuel pump are you using? any engine management software (pocketlogger, etc.)?

Who me? My mods are as exactly listed in my sig. Period. :) :dsm:

I data logged once for the heck of it, but even if it told me #3 was melting, there's nothing you can do about it on a stock ECU with no controls. :D

First--thanks to all here.......!

Jay, thanks also......and yes, right about what we thought!

The last time I weighed my Talon it was 2620 lbs., add 195lbs. for me and total weight was 2815 or so with 1/4 tank......I will attempt to bring weight down further, I'd like to see the car around 2500lbs, and I'm down to 185 lbs.!!! I lost ten pounds since last fall....haha.

Yes, my dyno numbers were on an AWD dyno at 21 psi. I have run as much as 23.5psi on the 14b...it holds. My best traps in NY at LVD are 112.0 and 112.38 at almost 23 psi. Down here in Maryland I hit [email protected] and a spun launch run of [email protected] now my best MPH numbers.

Anyway...I'll keep everyone posted on updates. Good luck to all the guys here with your rides......

Jay, whenever you and Craig are ready, definitely come down! I'll let you know next time I'll be up, you and Craig and the gang can get together.

Take care,

Phil1320

ps--my turbine housing is ported for who wanted to know.

hey , i want to start off and say i dont think phil ran a 12.0 with a 14b, and if He did great! i ran last saterday with a 14b and a car weighing at 2800 with out me in it and 2940 with me in it.
i ran a 13.3 with 237hp to the wheels
i Now have 266.8 hp with stock 14b stock intercooler pressbent ic pipe, on 15psi jumping to 18psi at high rpm, all on pump gas 91 octane I was still running a lil rich and capable of running much higher boost, I also have alcohol injection (not in use) I WILL have 300 hp out of the 14b just wait and see!!! also does anyone know who has made the most power out of a 14b?

14b doesnt make power past 6300rpm just runs out of power I have a dyno at my shop so i can dyno all i want

14b rules! ok not they suck and thats why i have a pte 50 trim on the way with a fmic

I was at AA when Phil dynoed the car so the numbers are true and he has ran 12.0 ET's on the 14B. I've seen under the hood of his car and its amazing, it looks stock under the hood. Insane but true, and for you ALIEN...just because your car only ran 13's with the same mods doesn't mean Phil didn't run 12 flat and i'll tell you why...BOOST IS EVERYTHING....Phil Beers is a DRIVER...and C16 race gas is a gift from god for turbo engines. Thanks to phil, he makes the rest of us shoot for high goals on the stock 14B, and keeps people with tons of money dumped into their cars pissed off. Good luck...but the numbers are still true.
