wind lake,
hey guys,

I am planning on building my engine this summer from the bottom up. I now have a 98 GSX with stock internals. I was wondering if I had the crank balanced would that eliminate the possibility of crankwalk or should i go to a 1st gen six bolt engine and put a second gen head on it? My goal is to produce around 450hp at the wheels. This will be my daily driver so i need it to be fast and reliable at the same time. Any help would be much apreciated. Thanks

getting a full set of bearings for the rebuilding process, (better if you get high perfomance) will eliminate the chances of crankwalk, technically every engine has the chance of getting crank-play "crankwalk" so bearings like clevite77 will be a good choice, well.. among many other good brands...!

I have tried everything possible to prevent crankwalk on my 7 bolt. It took a shite aobut 2 weeks ago. Titanium Nitride coated and cryoed crankshaft. Ground the thrust off and then reheliarched it back on. There is no fix. I have spent countless amounts of money in the search for the cure. The cure is, get a 6 bolt to start with. You can check out my site for more details.
