lifter rattle

Yea ok I'm gonna sound like a total meathead here but I gotta ask...
I once read that a solution to the lifter rattle in 2g's is to replace the lifters from that of a 3g....this doesn't make sense to me as we've got totally different engines...how would the lifters possibly be compatable...or are they somehow...?
If this is BS then lemme know...and please, if anyone has a suggestion (permanent one aside from getting rid of the car..ha ha ha..) to fixing this annoyance...please let me know!

3g's arent compatible. 2g Lifters in 2g car..they're like 6-7bucks a pop. You need 16. HTH..

I've heard from somewhere you can use 3G valves in our heads, but even that is unconfirmed.

I see no problem with 2nd gen lifers, so why the consideration if it were possible?
