my 97 gsx, that i just purchased, has a 16g turbo with a 1st gen bov. the nut who owned it previously did not know how to setup this turbo, had the bov line t'd off to connect to the wastegate actuator ... anyway. it was running pretty slow and i thought it should have been faster, so i redid all the vacumm lines the way they should be and put positive pressure on the actuator arm. now i have a problem, a good one at that. ok now when i boost it's super duper freakin fast but its like the boost just hits a brick wall at 5500 rpm and the car just stops boosting. i don't have any type of boost controller (just got the car), my question is, am i just hitting the fuel cut off, i have no idea how much boost the turbo is producing now, when it hits full boost at 4k it feels uhm, very fast, until it stops. so if this is just fuel cut off? i can get a boost controller and just turn it down to 17psi correct? and i should be fine right?
also, in 1st gear the car stopped at 5500k and in second it hit that wall at 4500k, does the eclipse ecu require more gas depending on which gear your in? this may be a dumb question, but sounds legit right now
just for extra reading:
the gsx when i bought it had the j-pipe tap just open, not plugged or anything, the bov line was t'd to the wastegate actuator arm, and the little black box (sorry don't know the terminology yet) that's below the air intake that two vac lines run into (bottom to waste gate actuator and top to the air intake) wasn't even hooked up, the lines were cut, and the previous owners were wandering why the gsx wasn't all that.
