ok ive had my boost gauge hooked up close to the firewall on the drivers side for a long while now and its always seemed very accurate for vacuum and PSI readings... Well recently ive noticed a few lower intercooler pipes and 2g turbo install kit 90 degree bends have a small nipple on them... ive asked around and i was told those are to measure your PSI or boost.... ok now is that soposed to be a better better MORE accurate source to read boost or what i am confused.... which is better???

Any Pressure source can be used to read a boost gauge.

No one place is better.

Exactly what john says. The pressure doesnt increase or decrease at any point in the pressure line. Mine have always been hooked up close to the firewall. Most install kits will give you the easiest point to tee into so your not tryign to decide from 12 diffrent hoses if your just a noobie.

The ones you are referring to are usually used as a pressure source for a boost controller. Where you have it currently should be fine.

Whether it be for a gauge or a controller a boost source is all you need for either. There are about 6 different points I can think of off the top of my head.

use a manifold port for it. port pressure readings are good but port vaccume readings will be false ('port' readings would be pre-throttle body locations). you can tell alot about your engine and how its working simply by having a good vaccume source... not to mention your guage would get A TRUE reading of what the engine gets if you use the manifold pressure.

I'd have to go with the last post zac83. If you have the port for your guage on the engine side of the throttle body, it will accurately read part throttle and closed throttle. If it is on the other side, or even worse, on the turbo side of the intercooler, it will not give accurate readings due to losses. Also I would think it would lag a bit that far away from the source of the vacuum, that being the pistons/cylinders of the engine.

And I would add that the shortest hose/pipe/tube for your manual boost controller the better. 4-6 inches of stout tube is best. I have 0 spike now. Occasionally, when in taller gears, if I get on/off and then on the throttle, I can get 1/4 of a pound of spike, but that is it. When I had a foot long tube(don't we all wish :) )it would spike like a figure skater.
