How many of you are running block off plates instead of the EGR valve on your 1G?
Im thinking of removing mine cause its junk anyway, any downside to doing this mod?
 
nox will go up (oxides of nitrogen) the combustion chamber will be hotter (not more lean.... hotter) personally i wouldnt block off the egr unless i had an bigger IC... but thats just me. you shouldnt get a cel in a 1g for blocking the egr. Mine isnt on, neither are 2 other blocked egr cars that i know of...2g is obd2 so if you fart it throws a light....
 
There are no emissions tests in my state so i dont have to deal with that,
I like to eliminate anything that doesnt serve a performance gain but can cause the car to run ill if it breaks! Thanks for the info guys, ill be making a plate this weekend, Maybe this will help with some of my idle problems.... but probally not:(

as you shouldnt

egt stands for exhaust gas temperature, not combustion chamber temperature, big difference and that is why egt guages are not real good for fuel tuning

You lost me. I assume that increases in combustion chamber temperature would be reflected in higher exhaust gas temperature. I realize the change isn't 1:1 but there should be some connection between the two. Please explain.

that explains it all
 
theoretically blocking it should be better for combustion tho, as the egr, by defenition, injects exhaust gas into the combustion chamber, mixing it with the nice, clean, dense intake charge. That can't be good for performance, or efficiency.

in practice, I don't know if it helps. I had to have my t-body off, and while it was, I blocked mine off. No probs, don't know if it is better or not. Have emmissions testing mid april, will let ya know.
