How does the T28 compare to an L1R?

Curious as to how these two turbos compare to each other.

Both seem to hit around the same amount of boost around 3000 RPMs, and the spool up is very quick for both. And in between shifts would the boost be instant in both turbos? The only difference I from owners is that the L1R is going to have a better top end, and twice as much money.

Now if I were going to go with autocross/road racing. Wouldn't the T28 be efficient enough? The specs are very close to each other. The differences don't add up to twice the price of the L1R in my opinion. the T28 did hit high 11s before as well.

I am probably have some wrong assumptions in there, please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance.

You pretty much summarized it yourself. The L1R should have better top end. They both spool up about the same. One costs more then the other, what more do you need to know??

Also, I hate to be a sour#### but the T28/Big28 has gone 11s one time as far as I know. The turbo is more likely a high 12 low 13 second turbo.

larry, you make me glad i have it :)

There are several mid 12 sec 2g gsx running Big28's. I think mid to high 12's for a GSX and low 13 to high 12's for a 2g GST are possible with supporting mods, including cams, DR's etc. and darn good driving and or practice to go along with it IMO.

from my reasearch into the same question... with the L1R being dual ball bearing, you will get more air quicker, and with less loss of boost between shifts. Making the L1R a better choice for autocross... if I am wrong, someone please correct me...

The L1R should definitly make more power on the top end compared to any 28 series turbo, if it doesn't there's something wrong. I would think that the L1R would be awesome for autox and with the BB design would definitly spool as fast as a Big28.
