Think there would be much if any deference in preformance?

and what would be the likely cost of the two.. BTW are there realy any truely NEW engines... like never taken out of the creat...

i want another 2L cause i just dont wana have problems with the comp trying a 2.4L

I probly dont have to do this now.. but im gona.. i just dont think the engine in it now is that reliable.. just been abused to much.. I would rather buy a new one or rebuild it completely since im gona put a new clutch in it now.. and then i would know for a fact that everything is good to go.. er also gota get a new radiator and fix my friends getto wire job..

one other thing do most DSM's rpm gague jump like 200rpm for no reasion?? cause when it was just siting there ideling it went from 750 or so to 1000 a few times.. which dont worrie me but the gague it's self was twitching everynow and then.. (engine was no incressing in rpm but gague twitched sorta..)

You are the only one who knows if the engine has seen to much abuse. Personally I would tear it down and look at it before deciding to buy another. You could save money by using your block. Use the money you saved to get your block bored .020 over and get wiseco pistons, crower rods, and clevite bearings. Also you should remove the balance shaft. That oughtta take most of the torture you can dish out!

Finding pistons for a block bored .030 can sometimes be harder, than .020. But if you find one go for it!
If the balance shaft belt snaps it can get tangled in your timing belt...

just have the new assebly balanced. It revs faster w/o them. The belt can break at anytime. More rotational weight for the crank to turn. Make sure u have the shop use a torque plate when they bore the block so the cyls are perfectly round.

k... well.. guess i'll drive it for about 5-6 months and get my father to rebuild it.. he knows some ppl that do realy good work so im sure he will take it to some one that knows what there doing to have it bored and honed..

by then i should be able to aford over sized SS valves. titanium retaniners, the better springs, eagle or better rods, 8.5:1 pistons etc.. the whoel 9 yards

BTW how long does it take to install the blance shaft remove kit.. or rather just uninstall the balance shaft? is it something i can do in a day's time?
