1.8 to 2.0 turbo

I have a 92 Eclipse 1.8 and I love it to death but...it's a 1.8 . It sucks...I was looking at a rebuilt turbo engine on adrperformance.com and I'd really like to make the switch. I just need to know what all I will need to do it. Thanks alot. -Jesse

I've tried looking for a GS-T or GSX but I'm not having any luck what so ever. I have checked out Auto Trader, Auto Mart, DSM Trader, and alot of car lots in the area. They either have engine problems, 130+ miles, or they just want way too much for it. I'm also thinking about dumpin 4 grand into a 16g turbo for the 2k Eclipse. I'm confused.

2 options.......

Sell the 1.8L and get a 2.0L Turbo car

Keep the 1.8L car and buy a 2.0L Turbo car.

2.0L NT to turbo isn't too hard. But because the 1.8L was vastly different in tran, ignition (Distributor not DIS), and other electronics.....wayyyy to much of a PITA to even attempt.

There are 2 FWDs local to me for sell. 92 FWD Laser, needs 2 rims and a 1/4 $1500 (a little steep), and a 90 Laser FWD for $600 OBO. Motor out, and apart, just needs new bearings, and cleaning.

If I really wanted to look some more, I know I could find some more.

I actually know a guy who did a 1.8 to 2.0 turbo swap. It took him 48 hrs with the help of some friends... He loves his newfound power of course, but he's actually sick of wrenching on his car... he doesnt even want to think of modding it yet.

Whatever floats your boat though...

i find it very funny that people with no motor swap experience at all seem to be the first ones to chime in on threads like this. speak of what you know,not what you heard.
