:dsm: i bought a 94 4g63 180k for my 90 laser turbo im gonna build the engine up and put it in for spring i have access to porting for free so ill do everything i can i would like to get out of rebuilding the engine as cheep as possible im on a buddget please email me with a list of bottom end parts to replace and stuff i can do at the machine shop and a small list of head stuff i can do what about a 2g head thanx for any help anyone can give me i looked at other threads not enough detail for me cause im seriouse sick of reading dreamers threads peice

What type of power are you looking for, what you put into your engine depends on that.
 
im looking for engine insurance. im gonna do everything starting with the intercooler and the intake. not going with the front mount maybe dual side or upgrade stock and pipes dont think ill be able to come up with money for turbo big 16. im looking to get as much power out of it as i can im just gonna keep going. i figured the weekest part was the engine so i should start there i mean i can baor and port for free any stuff like that is simple just need to know what to replace can i get away with all 2g bottom end i dont know its just i talked to a couple of guys and they are saying oh stroker kit this crower that. i dont have the cash for that now so i want an engine thats gonna take a beatin till i can afford to just buy a race engine complete this one has gotta be good though im thinkin about boaring the cilinder walls .40 this other guy said no just go .20 i dont know what to do and when i can make a plan ill be set tell me what i can put in from a 2g and what has to be aftermarket any thoughts are awsome thanx
 
you know what i dont know if this engine out of a 95tsi awd will fit the guy i bought my 94 4g63 from said hell give me my money back and i can give him 100 more for that one its got 120k the 94 had 80k hhhmmmm
 
I would say go 95 pistons with big rods. Since you can machine yourself, get it bored .20 over. I would say only do .40 over if the cylinder walls are really scarred. This set up should be good with a big 16g.
 
so i should go with the 95 pistons and big arms. so im all set on the bottom end what about the crank should i replace it. so im staying with the ingine i bought the 94 4g63 80k and replacing that stuff right? what about the head not sure what to do to the head some guy who does stock car racing i know says i could actually hurt my engine by macining it so i should be careful im ready to go pick up the parts for the bottom end and will start on that but hit me with some more advice on the top end should i go with 2 gaskets and better head bolts valves cams what? thanx for the help peice.ray
