In a few weeks im going to be pulling the motor and trans out of my 90 and putting it in a cleaner 91 awd. last fall i rebuilt the head and put a new timing belt on, but did nothing to the bottom end. So why i have it out i want to rebuild it. Is there anything specail that you recomend or any tricks?? Ive herd guys talking about eliminating the balance shafts, what is that and where can i find more info on it, thanks

most dsm performance shops sell balance shaft eliminator kits. its just a belt driven shaft thats weighted to counteract vibration. try the search nextime, saves bandwidth and us having to answer questions that have been answered a million times before.

Good luck! It was fun rebuilding my engine....even though I spent most of it on my back, or with a sore back from leaning in the engine bay. Wish I was around, I'd give you a hand. What internals are you going with?

?? I dont know yet what internals im going with, I was just going to buy the rebuild kit from machv.com, but i guess 2g pistons would be a good idea. What else would you recomend? I only want to do this once. the car is stock now, I was going to start with a 2.5" exhaust and go from there as i have the money. I have two other toys i have to split my extra cash between.

everyone does 1g rods on 2g pistons, unless you have the cash for a more expensive setup. Stock internals can go a long way.

I can get 2g pistons for $50 should i buy them?? Rings are like $80
then do I have to get 2g bearings for the wrist pin?? I have to have my rods machined right? is to power worth the money?? The machv kit comes with pistons, rings, and all the bearings. If its worth it all do it, but other wise i dont see the point. Thanks for helping me out.
