Ok , what does a 1G BOV sound like? I have never had the honor of hearing one besides 6 years ago in my brothers friends 91 tsi that I rode in. I didnt know what a bov was back then! Is it like the tone my 2G gives off , a chirpy swooosshhhhh noise? And I noticed my car is running 11-12psi, can I blame this on my 2G BOV?

How come on N/A cars that have turbo kits they run big turbos ( big 16, T3/T4) and only 6-9 lbs of boost? I know the motors can handle full boost from these turbos. Is it done like that so if you rebuild the power is then tappable? The honda chumps around here have big turbos and little boost and I wondered why they dont have a t25 or a small guy? Is it because of the popularity of the 16,T3/T4 so its easier to get exhaust manifold and collector? any one have light to shed???

I've noticed that also, here's my concept. They are pushing a mass amount of air through their engines without the turbo trying to make the most of an all motor setup. And then add a turbo. Our engines were designed to have the turbo there to exaggerate our air flow. Imagine how much stress would be put on a T25 if an all motor H22 (Prelude) was pushing on it. It would spin itself to death in nothing flat. But you put a bigger turbo on there, with it's corrospondingly bigger turbine, and now it won't die from the airflow. It just dawned on me, also the T25 would never come off boost due to the larger amount of airflow. I would be willing to bet that if you measure CFM of air intake for an all motor engine and our engine WITHOUT it's turbo, we would look pitiful. But we were designed for the turbo, and we can take the higher boost levels because of it. So let them waste time and money running a T3/T4 on 1/4 of it's real potential. Smile at them with the knowledge that we can actually use that turbo that they are just playing with.

Yes your 11-12 psi is becasue of the crappy stock 2G BOV.

depends on the motor most times stock compression ratios on N/A motors will not allow for much more that 8-10 psi without fearsome detonationOMG

i am havin the same problem ...we should go junk yard hunting AW4G...maybe get lucky and find some turbo'd 1g's

Tallen,
Dude I found like 4 turbos at the junk yard! Opened the hoods and was like OMG! Its a fake car! They were rapped to the bones! I did get a 1G intercooler for 7 bucks! It was on the ground by a laser. Theres like 5 yards around here I want to hit up but I can only go on saturdays!

Thanks guys for clearin up the N/A question!

To help answer your second question. With cars like hondas and the 2G NT's we have to keep the boost low because of both the compression ratio and the shitty pistons. My compression ratio is 9.6:1 combine that with cast pistons and you can only safely push 9-10 lbs of boost w/ bigger injectors. The reason most kits use race turbos is because if the owner ever wants more power all he/she has to do is rebuild the motor and the sky (and pump gas) is the limit basically. I know once we rebuild we can run 15psi with nothing but an afc and bigger injectors. Thats a little less than 350 to the wheels, w/ an EIC and a set of 8 injectors we can safely run about 20lbs on pump gas (when tuned correctly)
