2g to natural gas conversion??????

Has anybody done this. I was reading on it and natural gas is 130 octane and alot cheaper than racing gas and you could run it on the street all the time with higher boost levels than running on 91 octane without woring about knock. Also your engine runs alot cleaner, oil changes around 10,000 miles and so on.

yeah,i'll just run down to texaco and fill up. you would have to do alot of work to be able to run natural gas in your car, dose'nt sound worthwile to me.

Their is a fill up station right down the stree fom my house. Also their are conversion kits that let you use both types of fuel and in some states the government will reimburse up to 50% of the conversion cost. I was just wondering if someone has used natural gas in modded street car, and how it worked.

First, it's not 130 octane, you may have read about one of the ron or mon numbers, but with r+m /2 method it works out to be around 104 octane or so.

Second, octane isn't everything there is to a fuel, let's say we are running the car on propane, it has less BTU than gasoline (less power when combusting). So it may not yield more power.

It will be a fun project to attempt a complete propane gas conversion on a spare car, but as an althernative you can inject propane at WOT to raise the octane level (car still run on gasoline!), search for Propane injection.
