DSM Radiator Fans

Does anyone know how many cfms the stock radiator and AC fan blow? I ask for 2 reasons.

1.) Ever since I put the FMIC on my 2G, it wants to overheat when I use the A/C. I figure replacing the 2 fans with high flowing SPAL fans will help this.

2.) I am installing the IRC FMIC on my 1G on Friday and want to keep the A/C but only have 1 new SPAL fan to install. Figure I will need a second one unless the the one (which flows 1250 cfm) will be enough.

Rich: I have two (non hi flow) Spal fans on my Buschur street core with a fludyine radiator 1 push 1 pull. With that setup I was still setting coolant get over 200 degrees on a hard pass. I noticed the biggest reduce in coolant temperature switching to a 180 degree tstat. If the spal fans don’t do it try a cooler tstat then try a 80/20 water coolant mix. Good luck keep us informed.

Well for my 2G I bought a 180 deg thermostat, but it is smaller than stock and lacks the rubber ring to keep in sealed and in place so I just went with a new stock one (195 deg I think) and some good orange coolant. How did you get yours to stay in place? Should I just install it as is and let it flop around?

My coolant temps stay around 210 on the 2G (not sure about the 1G) and rise up to 219 before they drop back down. of course this only happens while cruising down the highway at 70MPH or higher. Around town, cruising under 70MPH and whatnot, the temps stay at 210.

i just don't want to have any trouble with te 1G.

bring that 180* thermostat over...well put that in the 1g..1g's don't have the rubber. Your second fan was ordered, and should be here tommorrow.

What could cause both fans to run regardless of temperature? As soon as I turn the ignition to ACC both fans fun until I remove the key.(keep in mind it did this when the car was 100% stock to) i guess this is good for cooling, but i think after a wile my fans will burn out

no the ac switch is not on, but when i pull the ac fan relay the ac fan shuts off. as soon as i put it back in, the ac fan comes back on. the rad fan never stops running. i replaced the radiator thermo switch but it made no difference. BTW the interior color is dark grey like you said it was.
