Exhaust Mani. Porting Question

i just finished porting my runners and i am about to begin on the collector. should i just thin those dividers or can they be removed all together? why are they there?

Lots of debate about the divider. It's original intent I believe was to direct flow for the 1-4 and 2-3 runners. I removed mine completly, but I didn't do a comparison against anything b/c this was during the new turbo swap.

i did mine that way too.
and i knifedged the rest of the dividers.
i noticed a difference.
i hope in the long run it is for the better.
i will be getting a 20g with a ported 2g manifold soon. (with divider)
i will do back to back test on a data logger and at the track to see the difference.

That would be awesome. I wish I would have done b4 the turbo swap. Hmmm....may be I'll strap on a stock 2G mani and compare? :laugh:

I was told to grind it down to nothing also.

Yeah, you can grind them down to nothing. If you take a good look at it and do some physics on the direction of the gas flow, those little runners are not doing anything but slowing the gas down some to try and give it a direction change that is soooo minute that it does nothing. If anything, removing the runners may cause the gases to swirl a little more and flow faster like a tornado effect.
