allright, now I know that I need an install kit to use a 16g turbo on my 95 gsx but the question I have is:

Does a 16g (or big 16g) turbo bolt directly up to a 2nd gen exhaust manifold?

The shop that would put it on for me already has any oil lines, will make intercooler piping, has flanges, etc. but I need to know If I need an adapter plate or something for the turbo to bolt up? Thanks in advance:cool:

Yes but you would really want to port the collector on the manifold out to 7cm to match the turbine housing.

thanks john, I'm going to have the shop port a bunch of things for me, and I'll make sure the collector is one of them...

also, what exactly does it take for a 2g install kit?

I did a searched for install kits, b/c if it's really easy, I might do it myself... (I can get cheap good labor at a local shop thought...) I was wondering what is included and or needed to install a 16g style turbo on my 2g. Thanks

oh...LOL

Just 1g water lines,1g oil drain line, J-pipe and assorted crush washers and gaskets.

You can bend the 2g water lines slightly and file the bolt holes for the Oil Drain line closer together. You'll also need to get new bolts. You will then need to get a Oil Feed Line (recommend Braided SS Line), J pipe, and then a pipe with a 90 degree bend. The RRE Tweaker Kit is what I used and it is fairly simply.

what about on a 1g with a 2g exhuast manifold, will a big 16g work? or do i need the 2g install kit? or will a t-28 work with that?

No a t-28 would not be best for the 1g, the manifolds are the same to my knowledge as for as how the turbo bolts on to it. Its just bigger on the 2g's. Intercooler piping is the only reason that the t-28 was suggested over the 16g and the way the oil and water lines are situated.

I just put a 20g on which is the same as the 16g except the compressor housing points down instead of up. Thats why I didnt need a j-pipe. I reused the metal water lines and replaced one of the rubber tubes with some tubing from home depot. You will need a new oil feed line, go with the stainless, its flexible which makes things easier. I used a dremel on the oil return line bolt holes and bought two new bolts from home depot for the return line.
