air filters/ Injen intake pipe

My factory air box is broken so i would like to by a round filter to replace it and I have been told that the k&n filter for the 3000gt/stealth will replace the factory air box without a adapter. Does anybody know if this is true? Also would I be able to use this filter if I added a Injen intake pipe in the future?

The K&N has a adapter.The filter is oval.With the Injen pipe it's really tight fit...There's 2 sizes of the K&N.The Eclipse one is smaller than the 3000GT filter.My friend has the 3000Gt filter with Greddy pipes and he has no room.That's with the stock turbo snorkle.
