In about a week or so i am going to buy a T28 and install it so i was curious if anybody has, or knows somebody who runs a dual stage boost controller. What are your opinions on them and which ones are the best. I really don't want to drop $400 on an electric controller if i can just buy one of these and just flip a switch to choose between two preset boost pressures. Also what are good boost settings to run with the mods i have now. I still have a factory fuel setup, but am getting ready to buy a 190 fuel pump. I fugure for now i could get away with 12psi/15psi. Just looking for suggestions.
thanks.

you can build your own pretty cheap.

his instructions are kinda confusing at parts.

these instructions are ok but i drew them a long time ago when i wasn't sure how to hook up a boost controller.

if you get a vsv then you wont have the solenoid and T in my drawing, they will be one unit. and instead of using the line that goes to the stock BCS you should T into the line going from the mani to the bov.

and it shouldnt cost more than $50 or so to build ur own two-stage, mbc's and all.

I have the TurboXS dual stage mbc... it sucks.

I really prefer the JoeP mbc over it!!

JoeP now has an E-mbc, which is an electronic controlled manual boost controller... it is much more cost effective than the typical electronics on the market. www.joepmbc.com/embc.htm

Is your picture acurate on how to set up the dual stage mbc???

I have a solenoid laying around that will work, but for lack of time, I never got the "set-up" down (i.e. running hoses, t's, mbc's in order).

I think i am going to try the Joe P Electric MBC. I already have one of there regular mbc's and it works great as far as holding stable boost. I'm going to buy one next week, and when i install it i will let you all know what i think. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

thanks agian:cool:

it should be accurate. set up the solenoid so that it blocks the low boost mbc when u turn it on. That way if something happens to it, it won't default to the high boost setting.

edit: also check my revisions in the post directly under the pic

Just a question...could a dual stage controller be switched while driving???

yes, i asked that quite a while ago when i was trying to decide what bc to get. both dual stage mbc's and electronic ones can be switched "on the fly"

I have the TurboXS dual stage controller, I really like it. But then I didn't know Dejon tool made one for that cheap. I would suggest theirs for the price.

TURBONIAM, why do you think your TURBOXS controller sucks???

Jon

the one i drew up would be switchable on the fly. you just run a switch into the c ockpit and when you hit it, it shuts off the path to the low boost mbc and makes air go to the highboost mbc.

It spikes really bad on my car.... the Joe P doesn't spike or creep ... but the Turbo XS does :(
