Well I just got back from vishnu performance.I put 152 hp to the wheels at 5500 rpm and 161 tq at 4400rpm.Im running 15lbs of boost on my stock 14b .I also have a n1 exhaust and k&n filter. And on a side note the guys ad shop at vishnu are great. To bad for Brett Payne and his crankwalking eclipse. If your in notheren cali and need a good dyno i recomend these guys.

So guys what do you think? When the tax return comes its time for cams and a bigger turbo.

wait on the cams. go for the bigger turbo, injectors, fuel control, pump, etc first.

I was going to get cams because i have 5 speed car but a engine from a automatic.

My tax return is gone already. New half shaft for driver side act 2600 new 16G turbo and money to install them along with my exhaust that has been in my living room for the past 4 months and my MBC. I can't wait to see how the car feels and what it dynos at.

Hmmm... Are you sure you was running a consistant 15psi? Mine spiked to 15psi and went down to 13psi. I got 153HP and 176TQ.

Mods:
o Boost Controller
o K&N cone

I just bought my exhaust turbo back and will get back on the dyno and see if I can hold 15psi constantly.

It holds 15psi,I have a autometer boost guage.Im going to check my compression on tuesday and check my plugs.

Well, what your gauge reads and what the dyno sheet reads may be different. Did you get a copy of the dyno sheet with the boost/air fuel curves? If so, post it..

I forgot to get the sheet with the air fuel ratio.Im going down thursday to get it.They said it spikes to 16 then back down to 15.It looks like somethings wrong with my car compared to your numbers.

Nope. All cars perform differently. No car is the same. Your numbers are relatively close to mine, so don't sweat it.

I was just expecting more with the n1 exhaust, hollow cat and b/c set at 15psi.I guess tax its time for a bigger snail.

Well, I just put my exhaust on yesterday. A few things I've noticed:

o I have 3" exhaust and high-flo cat and My car won't stay at 15psi. It creeps to 17psi, which, of course, is leaning out the mixture too much in the upper rpm range (Egt's go to 1650F after going beyond 6000rpms). This happened right after I did the fuel cut mod. It was fuel cutting like crazy with the new exhaust, so I had to do it.

o I suspect that at the upper rpms, my car is actually losing HP! This is because of the lean condition. I have just purchased the SuperAFC-2 to remedy this.

o Our cars are relatively weak at the top end of the rpm band. I am certainly interested in overcoming this in the future. However, I am hoping that instead of upgrading the turbo, I can use another solution.

$55.00. But it was a special since it was incorporated with a get-together..

 195hp is what the hp at the flywheel is at not the wheels itself. plus as the engine gets older the hp is loost because of various factors. So don't think that a stock 1G DSM is putting 195hp to the ground. :thumb:

i think those numbers are low. maybe a stocker puts 150 to the ground but running 15lbs of boost with exhaust and intake done should net more. How many miles on your motor? have you done a compression test? I know this isn't TOO accurate but based on 1/4 times and mph, using some calc nets my car about 270 to the wheels. that is with stock injectors, turbo, intercooler. this is a 1g btw. doesn't anyone else think they are low?

I wouldn't just go buy a bigger turbo. you can do so much with the 14b. I say in a 1g you shouldn't upgrade the turbo until you run at least a 13.5 or better.

Chris,

Those numbers aren't low. The dyno that we used is approximately 15% lower than a regular dyno jet. That would put it in the 175WHP.

Hey guys I salvaged a '95 GS-T and I had a 1G bov a K&N FIPK and a RRE upper IC pipe. Now We have a dyno at the school and I peaked out at 190hp ~ 6000+ ... I don't know how to explain this. the car was dragraced before I got it but I thought all of the Hi-po parts were stripped maybee it had a chip or something. but I sold that car for $4000 to a freind and he had a shop put a electronic BC on and ....BOOM.... soob! (crying) but that is a different story.

One thing though you have an AWD and all that xtra stuff has allot more losses than nothing at all. AWD vs FWD.

any way take it easy DSMites

Dynos arent absolute. Some messure differently.

In his cars case, he might not have a downpipe or a good ball spring boost controller.

I think with thoose two and a tune up he could hit 200whp.

Well I just thought that was low to me.. but i didn't know that rateing was the engine only i thought it was at the wheels damn stupid ppl... they should list the HP at the wheels.. not to many ppl care about at the flywheel unless your compairing transmitions or something...

a lot of the magazines have started rating power at the wheels, but manufacturers only care about profits (at least the higher-ups) so they give the 'at the crank' rating to appear better.
which sounds better
227 hp awd wrx
or
173 hp awd wrx
??? (assuming 20% or so loss through drivetrain)

AWD lose about 30% through drivetrain. As a rule of thumb:

FWD - 10%
RWD - 15 - 18%
AWD - 25 - 30%
