well, I talked to the machine shop about doing some work. I'll try to make this short and sweet. Basically they are not big fan of doing the 2g piston on big rods. And the main reason was cost. For $460 I can get a set of ross pistons with rings. The 2g's cost about $160 plus about $100 for the rings and $150 worth of machine work on the rods to fit em. total = $410. this seems like a no brainer to me to go with the ross then. my questions for you guys are as follows:
which rings does ross use with their pistons?(forgot to ask jack)
any weakness to these pistons versus the "stock" 2g units(ie long term durability etc.)
he said the ross's can be used in a press fit setup so they are ok.
is this a lopsided buildup? or are the 1g big rods and the ross's a good combo?
he really recomended going with the eagles to swing the ross's on but at another $350-400, i'm starting to get out of my range.(i had no intention of going to a fully built bottom end). And since I have a set of big rods already i'd like to use them.
i'll be running arp mains, rods, and headbolts in this setup fyi
