Tin foil on o2 sensor

I bought a test pipe from import evolution and about a week and a half later my cam postion sensor blew and the car wouldnt start due to the fact there was no spark. Is it possible that my testpipe caused this to happen. And if so, will covering the sensor with tin foil help solve this problem. My sensor is being replaced as i am typing this and i do not want to go through with this once again in the near future. If the foil thing does work then can someone explain the procedure to do this. Thanks fo any help.

are you asking about the cas or the 02 sensor? you switch back and forth...

I'm asking that if putting the testpipe on and it messing with my o2 sensor, did that cause my cam position sensor to go. I've read about covering the o2 sensor with foil but what does that do exactly. Can someone explain that to me.

no it did not mess up the cas.

and the foil on the 02 sensor it supposed to get rid of the cel due to the fact that that the second 02 sensor's sole purpose is to make sure you have a properly working cat. This trick didn't work for nor did it for others, but you can try it.

the tin foil method worked for me. there is a page some there that tells you how to solder some reisitors in to the harness so you can remove the o2 sensor. not to complicated, but the parts are hard to find at least for me. so I stuck with the tin foil.

So i just wrap a peice of foil around the sensor. Wont it blow off??

I'm getting a 3in' turbo-back without a cat pretty soon, am I going to have to wrap this O2 sensor that was by the cat in tin foil? I'm a bit confused.

You don't HAVE to-- just run it as is and see if you get a CEL. Some do, some don't. I didn't get one for about 7 months, then one day I did. I just unhooked the negative battery cable to reset the ECU and everything was fine. I've gotten CELs about twice more in the last 3-4 months, but it's no big deal. One day I may do the rewiring thing, or get a O2 simulator circuit, such as the one Casper's Electronics sells.

You could also just plug the rear O2 sensor socket in the exhaust with something and tie up the sensor in a plastic bag under the car. I've heard that a spark plug will fit in the exhaust hole nicely.

Sorry about that-- I didn't even realize I was just throwing that out there like that. Must be my military background.... Anyway, sometimes you'll also see it on other cars called a SES (Service Engine Soon) light.
