At what point do you need to modify your fuel system?

Ie. when you hit 250whp on a 14b. when you swap to a small 16g.

u wanna upgrade ur fuel system when u want to run 16+psi, stock fuel pump runs out at 15psi....its a good idea to upgrade all fuel system before a big turbo, running lean is bad very BAD

i used to run LEAN off the scale it was funny :barf:

What if you rewire the stock pump. Doesn't the 14b lose efficiency at about 17psi? The stage upgrades are very vague for my question. And i did search but i got anywhere from 12 to 18 psi!

It really depends on the condition of the turbo. If you have a 14B that is in good condition you can run 18-20psi with the proper ammount fo fuel.

First.

Seriously; you *always* want to be able to turn the fuel up, and the stock fuel system doesn't give you a lot of headroom.

It's important to stage your mods so that you perform the ones that add safety margin first, then the ones that require it later.

eg. AFC first, then fuel pump, then injectors, then plumbing, then and only then a new turbo.

Rinse, repeat.

So i'd max out the fuel system before i'd max out the efficiency of the stock turbo.

So its probably best to just upgrade to a larger turbo since i'm going to have to upgrade all of the fuel system anyway. Right?! ;)

This is sooo well put!

Yep, the good doctor has you on the right track, but I'll throw in my two cents anyway. To me, it's not a matter of PSI as to when to do fuel mods as it is EGTs. Right after I got my EGT gauge, I discovered that at high RPMs on WOT runs, I was easily hitting the max recommended temps (plus some!). I immediately turned the boost down some and will keep it there until I can do some datalogging and fuel mods. And this is still on the stock turbo, of course.
