SMIC or FMIC for my setup?

I currently have a 14B turbo on my 2g and WILL NOT be upgrading the turbo ever again. But, there is a few more mods I plan to do. 550cc injectors, some suspension stuff, and an upgraded intercooler. The intercoolers I'm considering is one from Dejon Tool (SMIC, spearco core 8.3x9.3x3.5), or AHP products (FMIC, Spearco core 17.25 x 6.5 x 3.5). With all the piping, they come out to about the same price ($700~$750). Is it worth it to get a front mount with a 14B? My goal is to get LOW 13's on drag radials.

With a properly tuned car on a GOOD 14b the easiest way to get into the 13's would be with a FMIC. I know it cost a bit more but it's worth every penny!

Already in the 13's with the stock SMIC, I just want low 13's

I wouldnt deal with the possible cooling issues. An upgraded sidemount would be sufficient.

Where are all the people that were slamming the guy that wanted to get a FMIC for his T25 powered car?

the dejon IC will be fine for what your goals are, the stock sidemount at the track for a run here and there will be fine aswell, but will get heat soaked on the street if your drive it hard for long periods of time, highway etc

My advise would be to get a Supra Sidemount IC. Heres a thread I posted. Its a review after installing the sidemount on my friends '91 GSX. I make comments, as well as he, about the install and difference in performance. Take my word for it, this IC can support your goal and is DEFINITLY worth the $100-$150 youd spend on it:

I know a supra sidemount would be much cheaper than the sidemount I want to get, but for some reason I do not like the supra sidemount install on DSM's. I don't like the thought of having to 'rig' something. Not saying I haven't 'rigged' anything before, but in this case I'd prefer a clean install.

BTW, Dejon's side mount went 12.6 @ 109 with a 16G in a 2g AWD according to the dejon website.

I believe the Supra Sidemount is larger though. The rigging doesnt turn out ghetto and when done correctly, actually ends up just as effective as a pre-fab'd kit. Its worth it, take my advise or not. But if youd just rather settle for a smaller sidemount thats pre-fab'd, go for it
