Acording to my friends they think I should change to a different car because they say this cars suck and that they are slow, they all drive honas and they prefer all motor. The reason they tell me to get another car is because my car dont feel very fast and I have a fiew things in it such as a 50 trim garret turbo t3/t4, hks front mount with upper and lower intercooler piping, 2700 pnd ACT clutch, msd external fuel pump, dual stage boost conroler set at 18 psi at high boost, 2.5 down pipe, manifold, 2.5 car, 2.5 exhaust, cyclone motor. My car is a 91 eagle talon awd. This is what happened I was sure that when i installed all this stuff in my car and it came out of the shop it would be fast but when it came out it didnt feel fast at all and the turbo seems to take forever to spool up, I have tried to take off on the car hard but it boggs down like it has no power, what could be the problem I checked the spark plugs and they were not gaped 1 spark plug had good spark the others barely spark would this be the problem and to top it off the car dont want to start any moe it got flooded with fuel. I am still going to stick with this car because I think i should be able to beat them, what times do you guys think I should be hiting with the mods i mentioned and about 19 psi on street gas. sorry to bore you with this long ass story, I just want to proove the non believers wrong.

I have 550cc rc injectors and all I know about the fuel pump is thats its an msd external fuel pump, and the turbo seems to have to much lag because I have a sorry take off frome the line I might sound dumb but ive even thought about geting a smaller turbo on my car witch I already have its a small 16g that came with the cyclone motor.

Well how do you control the fuel.

Do you have an AFC? or something like that. IF not your car will be running so rich that it will run like crap.

no i havent got an afc yet but in the meanwhile how much boost would you guys suggest i run and can i expect to run 13's assuming my car runs right.

I'm surpised the car even idles with 550's and no fuel control.

I wouldn't run anymore than 10psi w/o some kind of fuel control device and logging device.

I am not to sure about that turbo but with all the mods you said you have with an afc and a 16G you will be in the 13's easily. So with that large of a turbo you should be in the 13's but as i said i dont know much about that turbo but i am pretty sure that turbo can max out those 550 injectors. I think even a 16G can max out 550.

Oh, dsm girl, are yer honda buddies into the Nawwsss thing? Tell all the monkeys you hang wit to be patient while you tune a potentially lethal combo. And definitely get an AFC and plan on spending a couple days on the dyno...

Ok this will sum it up, it does not matter if you turn the boost up or not, it's still going to feal like DOG until you get an AFC or somthing to control that fuel.
You are running alot more fuel then stock, and the ECU does not know that there is bigger injectors in the car, so the ECU will still control the injectors as they were stock, so in other words, you are running waaaaay to rich, of course it's going to feal like crap and be slow. Spool up with also be slower then hell running rich as you are right now. You need an SAFC to lean things up, as soon as you get an afc and lean her up alittle then you spool up will be much better and over all power will feal like you just released your e-brake.

If you let it run to rich for to long you can destroy the piston rings (your washing them out with raw fuel, not good) so my advice, dont drive it much till you get a AFC..

Trust me, with bigger injectors and SAFC combo you can pull alot of HP out of the car, crap on the dyno just by adjusting my SAFC I found 56 more HP to the ground just tunning it..

You have a good setup, your on the right track, but as far as why your running so slow is due to running way to rich with the 550cc injectors. Invest into a SAFC now before you destroy your piston rings from running to rich..

Get an AFC, without it, well put it in easy terms, your flooding your engine with gas, you dont have the right air to fuel combination and the only way to really control it is with a AFC.

Good luck and may the BOOST be with you.

thanx for the help and yeah the my honda loving friends are into nos. There is one problem though i live in southern california and i am not sure of a good place that can put an afc and tune an awd. any help?

Your going to need some kinda guages or data logger to tune it too.. There are about 10 million places in S. Cali that tune cars, pick one. S. Cali is the import capital of the country !!

Poor honda guys think they can mess with the mighty 4G63 !! Poor F&F dildos..

I own both, Mistu is far better than the honda ( for power anyway )

I'm sure they have matching 10' tall wing too...

I'd say a $60 A/F gauge will get you though the night, but think about a datalogger, that is prob. a pretty mean turbo...

My advice would be to find a shop thats near you that specializes in turbo cars. No offense, but it doesn't sounds like you're all that car savy. I wouldn't tune the car on your own unless you are with someone that has done it before. It is difficult and you can do serious engine damage. It sounds like you are missing a few things and thats why your car is running poorly. You need to get an S-AFC, and properly gapped plugs and wires. With those your car will fly.

ISn't RRE in southern cali? Ok so I suck at geography. :p

DSM Girl, how far is Santa Fe Springs from your location? Consider taking a drive to Road Race Engineering. Or hang around here and learn how to do it yourself :thumb:

How did you get such a monster car wtihout any tuning done to it at all? Just curious.

Get fuel control ASAP.

with that size tubo you are out of the stock SMIC's range...i'd look into atleast a Supra MKIV SMIC but it sound slike you have a little cash since you have all these mods so a front mount intercooler would be a deffinite plus. otherwise you need an AFC and some tuning, you will be very pleased with the outcome.

it sounds like your car is badly in need of some dyno tuning. with that turbo you really need a front mont intercooler. also, get some sort of fuel management, like an Apexi AFC. the plugs have alot to do with it. go get some NGK plugs and gap them correctly. once your car is tuned to perfection your little honda buddies will think twice before they dog on your ride again.

Definitely get that car to a DSM shop that can take a look at it and get it running right for you. Might I ask why did you slap parts on this car with no knowledge of how any of this actually works or without help?

I thought i had help in the shop I had it in, but I was wrong they dont know crap about this cars all they did was put in the motor but the vacume lines were wrong so I took the car to another guy I met that has a car like mine and knows about the cars and he fixed all the hoses and wiring. I tried to put parts in it that fallowed the upgrade sequence in extreeme motorsports web page and it said the cars can run up to 17 psi i beleive withought an afc but i guess i will need one after all and for those who asked I do have a front mount on the car and its not that i have a lot of money its that the shop hooked me up with a turbo, front mount with piping, hks external wastegate, manifold ,for a good price $ 1,900. And yes I had been told to take the car to RRE and its about 2 hours from where i live but i thought they would not dino my car because its AWD and they mainly work for raly cars not quarter mile set ups but i am going to give them a call and see what they say.

After the car is dinoed will the lag problem go away because I really want to be able to have a good luanch and not bug down like if the car has no power or would i have to get a smaller turbo like a 16g so i have a faster spool up.
