A few days ago I noticed that my battery, radiator and brake light came on, not completely on but they were dim. A quick search revealed that I had a bad alternator. Today I replaced the alternator with a brand new rebuilt one and the alternator is still not charging. What else could be wrong?

Did you test to make sure the alternator is getting a 12V signal from the battery? What voltage was the old alternator putting out? What is the new one putting out? Is there a drop from the battery to the alternator? I would suspect either a defective rebuilt alternator or a broken wire in the alternator harness.

also make sure you have the correct connection coming from the alt fuse to the battery... (mine was badly corroded and hooked up wrong :headbang:) check all the simple things first

I'm having the same problem with mine, the brake and radiator lights are on all the time. When it first started, about a year ago, they would come on and go off. Now they are on all the time. I actually just replaced my alternator although I didn't think they were related. It seems to be working fine now but those dash lights are still on.

I'm getting 14 volts while driving.

I have a spare alt relay, I'll try to switch it out tomorrow and see if it gets rid of those dash lights.

My problem turned out to be the voltage regulator on the new alt. I fried it by removing the positive terminal on the battery. I got a new alternator and my problem is now solved. I also bought a multimeter to test my alternator in the future the right way and not #### anything up.

There is a relay right under the air box right next to the stock boot control solenoid the wires to it have a problem of breaking. you many want to check it to be a loss connection, bad relay, or possible the wire is broke out of one of the stocks like my car did. soldered it back in and every thing was good.

I've got a 1g but I switched out both of the Alt relays in the engine compartment (the big black one and the 80a one in the corner) and nothing changed. My alt is working, 14 volts while running, but my brake light and cooling system lights stay on all the time. Are these related to the alternator? They don't seem to be to me but I don't know what else. Thanks
