i want to get the HKS SSQ bov but im scared about venting it. i dont wanna recirc it cuz it wont be as loud. i tried to vent my stock 2g pos bov and my rpms flew from 200 - 1300 in idle. if i get the HKS SSQ bov i can i make sure to keep a constant idle and still not run too lean between shiftS?

Don't worry, you won't run too lean in between shifts, I can personally guarantee you that.

If you are worried about driveability you are gonna be dissapointed in anything that vents.

This is true but The HKS is a way better design than the stock 2G POS and will not leak at idle like the 2G one will.

If you are so worried about all the idle issues with the HKS, why not go with another one that does recirc. but is still louder than stock? I am all for having a loud BOV, but I'm not about to run the risk of looking like an idiot when my car dies everytime I have to stop. If you really want the HKS, just get an AFC to help combat the idle problems.

Wanna vent? Get a VPC to do it right. Idle problems shouldn't be an issue with a quality BOV like the HKS. Wanna perform? Recirculate.

I agree with Lando...go for a VPC, if money is tite.....just recirc the bad boy...I have a HKS...and I vent it currently...and believe me it's a lil annoying...when you're idle drops between shifts, and might stall out on you....performance before sound anyday.....in the midst of getting the recirc fitting....good luck

Or you could get the Super AFR. IT has a EDIS funtion that combats dramatic fluctuations in the air readings cause by venting.

That's pretty crazy! How does the AFR know that there was a dramatic fluxuation in the air reading?

Dont worry about sound before quality ever! You wont be recirculating all the time. Just my .02 though. I would go with recirculating it. If you wanna impress someone just recirculate and dont sometimes when you wanna show off. Maybe I am seeing this wrong?? Later

if you want some noise, get an RFL... or you can always go for that BOV simulator on to of the HKS for an added bonus :thumb:

The new GM MAF that ramchargers is going to be selling really soon should allow you to replace the MAF and vent your BOV by changing the system to a blow through type system. Im still waiting for more information on that myself.

i have the ssq, i vent. no problems at all, no idle surge, stalling, or stumbling between shifts. true the rfl is louder than the ssq but the hks sounds the best hands down. only downsides ive experience are lower gas mileage and a check engine light that wont turn off. driveability is fine as well

Here is a fairly cheap solution for the people wanting to vent there BOV to the atmosphere. It helps with most of the problems associated with this practice. It also helps clean up poor idle quality if you are having those problems to. Here is the website for detailed information.
