Ok, first I would like to say I hate asking questions caause it makes me feel stupid.

Anyway, i am planning on upgrading here in the next two months. My current mods are located here : http://home.ec.rr.com/bigeds/bigedsmods.html

My goals are a 12 sec car on pump and 11's on race gas. What I have so far in the works are the DSM link, which I won beacuse of you guys here on tuners.. thanx. So with that I am purchasing and eprom ECU. I would like to go with either the SBR-G50 or the AGP L2 (not L2R)internally gated. Gonna go with 660 injectors, RNR 3" Dp with O2 elliminator, ARP head studs with upgraded head gasket, and last and adjustable FPR.

Is there anything else I should look into doing. Alot of suggestions were to also build the head,1G Tb, intake. Which is all good but I wanna keep my budget under 3500.

I am sure I have forgot something. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

Looks like a good list to me, Ed. The only things I can think of would be some head porting/polishing (unless that comes under "build the head" that you mentioned) and starting on building the bottom end (rods, valves, springs, etc.). I saw you mentioned HKS cams on your web page, but not in your post-- still considering those? One thing I plan on doing soon is a higher flowing fuel system, starting with getting rid of the stock fuel filter and banjo bolt and replacing it with an in-line hi-flow model. That would also involve putting in some AN connectors and adapters, but would improve fuel flow a lot. Since you already have the 255 pump (and are planning on an AFPR), you don't really need to do that, but it seems to me like a pretty cool mod.

Whatever you do, though, don't change those wheels (unless you wanna give them to me). :D Those are the best-looking wheels I've ever seen on a DSM-- nice choice. I would've just said that in your gallery, but you seem to have the comments turned off...

One more thing I just thought of-- since you are already familiar with RMDSM, you could put on a set of their stabilizer bars. Also, any reason in particular that you're staying away from the BB turbos (L2R or GT12)?

1g TB won't cost you that much cash. You can pick them up typically for around $50. You will just need to port match the intake manifold which isn't that hard if you have the right tools. If it was me, I would go ahead and get 720cc injectors...you will still have complete driveability with the DSMlink.

Does that mean I shouldn't be running 720's on my L1R? ;)

I would look into a different IC core as well. Although the Greddy is decent, an upgrade would make your HP marks a lot easier to reach. Besides, you can always sell the Greedy to some rice boy and get enough to pay for a nice IRC core. :D

And definitely go with the set of HKS cams.

Hmmm. I might be up for that. PM me which injectors you have.

Those are ball/disc

**cough**on topic**cough**

Why aren't you going ball bearing?

Id go with the RnR 3" downpipe and o2 eliminator.. In regards to the head unless you intend on revving it up over 7500 you dont need an upgraded valvetrain.

I would say in the future you might want to get the head ported and put on a 1g intake manifold and throttle body but a stock 2g head, intake man, and throttle body will still get you into the 11/12s..

Well unfortunatly I am gonna keep the greddy. I want to keep my budgett to around 3500.

Would you guys say build the head or what. Anyone know anything about this place:
http://rpmxtreme.homestead.com/headsmitsubishi.html

What about the DP. would you say run a stock ported O2 and get a new DP or go with the RNR with O2 eliminator?

there has been a thread about that site and some of the venders that build motors dont see how they can do it for those prices. (hint quality issues) all i would add is cams to that list.

Thanx for all your help guys.

Do you really think the 720's are overkill??? I am getting a lot of other responses from people to say to go with them.

Also, I know this is gonna open a can of worms. Nobody said anything about the choice of turbos. I am open to any info on them. There maybe something I missed or not considering. Also open to any other sizes, like bigger and still maintain my budget.

Hey Ed,

I think Im in pretty much the exact same boat as you are right now. My old setup was very similar to yours, but Ive have since done a lot. Not to hijack or anything but I just found it kinda weird the we are going the same route. My goal is 11's on race and low 12's on pump as is yours. Ive been to 12.4@110 on the Big16g but that is race fuel and I want more. I just installed my motor I bought from Mike @ slowboy and am now hunting down my turbo. Im thinking Im going to end up with the internally gated G50 as well:thumb: Cool to see someone is where Im at right now. I was planning on some 660's though... maybe I shoudl reconsider.

Yeah, I had asked that same question-- I thought cost might be the answer, but I wasn't sure. Because some people doubt the reliability of them a little bit, since they're still kinda new (at least, new for us).

Just so you know the ball bearing option can be had on any turbo for xx amount of $$. the L2 and L2R really only have one similarity, the name. The turbos are completely different.

The L2R is a GT30
The L2 is 50 trim
