I'm butting together a motor and I'm looking at the BC 272 cams and the springs from BC as will my goal is 400-450, now i have read alot of people don't like the BC cams and springs and I'm trying to find out what do you guys think of the BC's????

You do NOT need new cam gears. I ran BC 272's on a 100% stock head and stock gears.

To get the full potential out of the cams you should have adjustable cam sprockets (as with any cam). However they will make good power without them.

i planed on getting some BC cam gears also...

i under stand on using some better cams and springs with a full race car but a fun DD shouldn't it be fine??

BC doesn't make sprockets to my knowledge, unless they are new (been away from the game for a while) Fidanza make a cheap reliable set. For a DD you will be fine.

they just came out not to long ago they are 199.99 i can't remember off the top of my head but i would like to stay with a company that i like even throw i have not dealed with BC before i hear a ot of good stuff, just trying to find everything out before i buy....

I slapped my BC 272's in and did not degree them. At 17PSI on my SC6152SP I gained 2lb/min with no changes but the cams. I also was surprised to feel that my low end power felt a little better.

Just to give you something to relate it to. When I slapped my Magnus SMIM on, I gained another 2lb/min at the same 17PSI with the SC61. This was on top of the 2lb/min I gained from the BC cams.

They are worth the money, contrary to what many people say. Even if you bought cam gears, you would spend a lot less then a pair of Kelfords + springs + cam gears. But Kelfords obviously have a lot of power to offer over BC 272's. They are much more aggressive. If you get the BC 272's, you can just use the stock springs. I have hit almost 9000rpm on my stock valvetrain with BC 272's. I'm not saying you want to do this often, but 8000rpm is more then safe on the stock springs.

Hope this rambling helps. Later.

EDIT*
If you buy cam gears and springs, get the Kelford 272's. If you want to go cheap and simple like I have, and many others, then just get a pair of BC 272's and throw them in with the stock cam gears and springs.

I have a motor that came out of my friends car that has bc272 in them. I was suprised to see how much power th car was making. (his gvr4 at 18psi and pump was even with a C6Z06) so I am going to run them until there is nothing left then go to fp5's. I think there was more of a problem with the bc280 than the 272.
