I can't believe what I'm about to do... I pulled the head off the car I just bought ('92 TSI AWD) with the intention of only replacing the head gasket. Well I don't know why but... I have pretty much decided to go all out and rebuild the bottom end while it is apart. I'm gonna go 95 pistons (+.20), 1G big rods, ARP head and main studs, new oil and water pump, Balance shaft removal, timing belt, etc. I can't really afford to (I guess I will sell my spare parts to pay rent) but... I can't afford to have any problems caused by not doing it either. Just look at what Mr. Murphy says in my sig.

I have one question. When running 8.5 compression with the 2G pistons is their going to be a problem with driving it otherwise stock? The only things this car has done is a rebuilt trans, Stage II clutch, hacked 1G mass air (and I just bought a 2G mass air), uicp. I will be running with no boost control (stock boost) and stock injectors/ fuel pump. Will this cause drivability problems?

Actually, I've decided to possibly waste a head gasket. I am going to bold on the head and test the engine to see if it really needs to be rebuilt. If it does I wasted a head gasket, if not I'll drive it until I have the money to build it. I had to take some time to review my finances and this is my best option.

That is what I did. Pulled the hea don my 1G to replace the valve seals. $2500 later and I had a rebuilt head, block and tranny, along with an ACT 2600, 550s, and AFC!!!

It is amazing... I should have everything here by Thursday so I can find out then when I bolt it on. God I hope it runs! *saying a quick prayer to the car gods* I'll keep you guys informed. If it runs, I got a deal waiting on an S-AFC and AVC-R for $640 shipped (used.) I'd much rather spend my money on those things.
