I know that the type of tire can increase your traction, ex.sticker but how about the width. How wide can you fit on a 2g with out rubbing. Is there any drawbacks to a wide azz set of tires? I dont spin nearly as much since i put the 225 55 16 as I did with the 205 60 16.

get some nice slicks.should be able to get traction with slicks.motor mounts help too.

Or u could get a turbo with a little lag <wink> Just came off the streets from playing. Managed to launch her (FWD) at 3500 and 4000 RPMs. A little spin and out like a sling shot. Anyone interested in some vids?

I am trying to find that out right now.. I have a pair of 245/50/16 tires I just got today and will be going on soon. With the right off set a wider tire could be possible. Also, is your car lowered at all? I heard of some people going as wide as 275/40/17. I run a 225/50/16 tire right now and with rx7 rims and 7/16 spacers I have about 1/4inch - 1/2inch of room to the suspension. The new tires are a little less than an inch wider and taller, so I will be putting on bigger spacers and raising the car a little to make them fit. My car is already lowered with the pro kit springs(1.3in). Also I have put longer wheel studs on my car already for the larger wheel spacers. And cheap sticky tires are the green dot retreads. 225/50-55/16 $69 ea. 245/50/16 $72 ea and 235/55/16 $43 ea.

not really a "street" tire, but I have been running them over a yr, worn to hell now and spin going 80 in third. A lot of people do run them on the street and they provide great traction especially for a pair you'd be paying just about as much for nittos or bfgoodrichs, if not more. S/h is $12.50 a tire.

what types of tires is everybody using, i right now am on my second pair of Falken Azenis's and i like them alot, you get the lasting tires of street tires, and the gripping of a drag radial. they grip really well. thats just my opinion.. lemme know if you guys know something better.

I'm running stock size Dunlop W-10's on the rear and 255/55R16 Nitto 555r's on the front. I get good traction with my FWD when they are warm.

What kind of 60' times do you get with the 255s? What are your 1/4 miles times? Do you use spacers or is your car lowered? What is the offset of your rims? Is you car a 1g or 2g? Also, on the nitto webiste there is no 255/55/16. You sure you dont mean 245/50/16, that is the biggest size they have on there website for a 16 inch rim.

Not completly of topic but I have a question. I'm going to buy 18" Motegi MR7's and the biggest width they come in is 7.5" I was just wondering if you guys know if I can fit some 245/40/18s on them I was thinking of going Yokohama Parada Spec 1's but somebody told me they can only come in 225's and the aspect ratio for 18's is 40 right, not 45

It should be able to fit with the right offset although I have no experiance with 18" rims. I recently got 245/50/16 Kumho Supra's and they were noticably smaller than the 245/50/16 Green Dots I have. The back is a little tighter to fit the wheels on a 2g. I wasn't able to fit the Green Dot's, but the Kumho's do fit in the same size. I was easily able to fit 245/50/16 Green Dots on the front of my car with the correct spacer, so depending on how the Bf goodrich drag radials are sized, I might be going with a 255/50/16 drag radial from them.

i got sportlines and 225/40/17s on 17x8..and rear is rubbin sometimes when you hit some pot hole...or on the hway where you have bridges going 80...otherwise is all good. NOW

anyone ever roll in rear fenders??? if yes, how?

nitto450 235 17" in front...pulled off a 2.25 best 60'....cant wait to see 60' once i get done modding my motor mounts!

On 17X9s a 255 will fit with about a +34 offset. You will need spacers for 275s think 1" spacers and around +12 offset on a 9.5 17s. You WILL have rubbing problems on 275s with lowered ride height. Personally I wouldn't go larger than a 245 and on +42 offset 16s you can have a decent profile without too many worries. However if you plan on slapping on some 2" "lowering springs" you should stick with standard sizes as you will run out of room. Are you sizing in favor of drag racing, autoX, RR? This answer will affect everything and if you want to have more balance towards drag racing things can get a bit more simple. I like versatile setups that allow straight line as well as the cones so decide what you want out of the car. Hell, I cut consistant 2.1s on 225 18s....Nittos no less and on the factory clutch. True, this was after many embarassing 60s and the OE clutch didn't like over 50 passes. Still it can be done so just keep at it.

Take a baseball bat and lay it on the tire and roll the car to make the bat wedge itself under the fender and go all the way front to back or vica versa. Just go in small increments as, too large of a bend will cause the paint to crack and chip at the edge. very simple and effective.

Let me get this straight. Because I, and others before me have used a bat to roll fenders that makes me ghetto? OK. But yet, you shop at autozone for your 2G. Who is it here again that is more ghetto? Hmm, how is that LED exhaust tip workin? LOL.
