I have a 96 spyder gs-t. Ok well my head was tapping alittle when I first got the car. I always used 93 octane gas. I raised the boost to 15 psi (yes I have a real boost gauge). Then my car started leaking alot of oil. The mechanic said the water pump went and the head gasket broke. A head specialist said the exhaust guides are out 5000ths, the head needs to be resurfaced, I need a valve job, and new seals. Does all this seem right? They are charging $600 but my dad is in the car business so I could get it done elsewhere for $350 or so. Should I get it done for $350 or buy a new or rebuilt head? If I buy a head I should buy a 1G head, right? What are the differences between a 1G and 2G head, and what kinda of gain can I expect from the 1G head? SOrry for the long post and thanks for the replies, Matt

if you ahve the money to spend. I would sell yours to get what ever your can for it. So it will help out on the cost of a rebuild 1g head

Your head should be cheaper than that. Just order a head set from conicelli. and spend about 125 dollars for a 3 angle valve job and hot tank.

I spend around 600 total when my head bent valves.

Most of it was parts.

You should bleed your lifters in 30wt oil before you put them back in.

It would be safe to lap the block with clover when you do get a new one or rebuilt head.
