My exhaust is leaking right at the downpipe and 02 housing. I replaced the gasket, tightened the bolts up until they sqealed, still can't get rid of the leak.

Is this supposed to have a donut gasket in there? Exhaust is new from the downpipe back, just can't get rid of this pesky leak.

Sorry, I did search the other 500 exhaust posts, just never found an answer.

I am also in the same boat but i already have a solution to mine and maybe you can benefit from ym idea as well.
If you haven't already done so, assuming you are on a dsm turbine side turbo, i would get an ebay stainless steel o2 housing and then take the car to a muffler shop and have them cut off the flange on both the o2 housing and downpipe and have them weld it together.
Now you will have a leak free exhaust system and no more worries.

Wow, that seems excessive and expensive. I threw a double gasket on that is holding for now. Time to go to the drawing board and figure something cheaper out. Thanks guys

What we recommended is relatively cheap and works.
O2 housing = $50 shipped on ebay
$30-$40 to have it welded ?

Just got back from Advance Auto. The donut gasket only ran $1.99. Works great. Mods can mark as resolved.

So ive been reading around the threads and came across some posts advising to use 2 exhaust manifold gaskets, and i thought the rule has always ben never use more than one gasket.

I currently have a FFWD Copper gasket that isnt sealing properly on the corner.

The thing is i have a 2 layer metal/aluminum gasket laying around and was wondering if i could use both the ffwd copper gasket and the 2 layer one.

If not ill go ahead and file down the manifold until i get my hands on one.

Since it is just exhaust and not some typ of liquid as long as it seals then it is fine. Double up and try it if you have it, if it doesn't work then try something else. The only thing the leak is going to do is (1) heat up the engine bay and (2) throw off the rear o2 or rear wideband if you have one. Just get it to seal how you can an be done with it IMO.
