how can i remove the rev limiter w/o a TMO ECU?

why do you want to remove it? have you had your tranny rebuilt to shift that high?

yes, and i am using a 60-1 garret and making lots of high end power. i have tiatnium valve springs and retainers, so i belive my valve train can handle it. i would like to shift around 8500rpms.

Really though. After all that cash you've put into mods, finding an EPROM ecu and getting the TMO mods is but only a small hit in the pocket.

ya, the only reason i have been avoiding the TMO is b/c i dont really need all the other frills. looks like thats what im going to do though...or maybe an AEM standalone hmmm

I disagree. The TMO is a VERY necessary mod on a big turbo car but the bang for the buck is in the toilet with that mod. $300 for a raised rev limit is pretty damn salty IMO.

Chances are he's got cams and a turbo that can utilize that extra rpm band. So I'd say spending $300 bucks for additional time in gear + more hp and torque is pretty good. Hell, honda boys spend 250 on a cai and get 5 hp. I'm sure he's getting more than that outta his $300.

I haven't really looked into it, but I'd be willing to bet that if you called up a bunch of places that were familiar with our ecu's that they coudl remove or even just raise it. 300$ is a hellof a lot to spend on just the rev-limit. When is anything about money relevant to what you have already done to the car. Right now I have perfectly shining built motor waiting to go in, but I do not even have the money for manifold studs or gaskets to finish OMG The motor was 3k+ but still...
Oh and wtf does it matter what "honda boys" do? I dont understand why this slang is being incorporated into these pitiful little minds of these dsm'ers that will never have sh!t  All this making fun and stuff about these Honda's is getting pathetic.

maybe you shoudl try:

As someone that's in the process of destroying their brain trying to understand the code in the 1G ECU, I think that $300 seriously undervalues the TMO chip.

I'd definitely like to see better service from TMO (since then I wouldn't be doing this), but you can obtain pre-tweaked ECUs for a lot less than $300 on the secondhand market.

Just be careful if you have no rev limit... if you shift into the wrong gear by accident :)rolleyes: like i've never done it) you will be in rough shape
