1G Intercooler suggestions

91 TSI set up with a 16G and VPC ?

fmic is always better than an smic, upgraded or not.

if you can afford it then definitely get a fmic. however if you're on a budget or you're going for a kind of sleeper look then you can use a Supra smic.

Agreed. If you can afford it, go FMIC. But if not, an awsome upgrade (like suggested before), is the stock Toyota Supra sidemount intercooler. Go here for pics, comparison of the two, and install directions:

Best thing about it, is you can pick up one of these for $200 or less and they DO make a difference in holding pressure.

I was told that you have to modify the bumper to install that IC...is that true?

If so, how involved is it?

Not the actual bumper, but you do need to use a sawzall and cut a few portions away from the subframe in order to fit it. The link I included goes into step by step detail to install it on a 1G

Another nice one is provided by DejonTool. I think theirs supports 325 HP. Personally I'll never (need to) make more than that, so that's what I'll be going with.

Thats right around stock Supra hp and Ive heard storys of it supporting pressure of around 500hp. You should just invest in a Supra sidemount IMO
