Ok I'm going nuts picking a turbo. I've read reviews of all the turbos on here and dsmtalk. I even went the extra mile and called FP, Victory Performance, AGP, and talked to local shops. All that did was make me even more confused. Of course everyone says they are the best and the other guys product isnt as good. Im leaning toward a big BB turbo. Im wanting to push my car solidly into the 11s and I like the spool characteristics of the BB. So far the L3r or a .60 trim GT30 from Victory Performance are up toward the top. I know the L2r or something smaller would get me there more than likely but Im also looking to the future where this car might go from a street/strip car to a track only car.

Here is what I have

92 Talon Tsi AWD

255 Walboro
Adjustable FPR
660cc injectors
Ported EVO manifold
full 3 inch exhaust
K&N
Apexi BOV
Tubular O2 housing setup for external (40mm Tial on the way)
S-AFC
Pocketlogger
2600 ACT

Other parts that are being ordered are either a IRC Race Core, or a Victory Performance FMIC. Also a set of HKS 272s.

Go ahead and give your opinons and PLEASE try to be as non-biased as possible.

and 660s won't be enough for an l3r or similar turbo probably, and some sort of fuel management other than safc might be good for that large of a turbo and mods

this x2 slowboy is the best. period.

FP3055 all the way. I would have gone with that without a doubt, but was skeptical about getting a BB turbo that was as new as it is. Also because of price. On race gas it is capable of over 500 hp to the wheels, with spool charactaristics of Forced Performances Green. This is of course what I have been told by Rob at FP, as well as a number of other big name racers. Unfortunately I am yet to see the turbo on or off of a car with my own eyes, but I am sure that these claims are more than accurate.
Your choices for a turbo are indeed large ones. Is this really something you want for a street car? I understand that you don't know as of now what you are going to do with the car in long term plans, but on pump gas you won't get near what they are capable of, and needless to say, you will have a great deal of lag, even though they are BB turbos.
I was in a similar position as you a couple weeks ago, and after drooling over larger of the Garrett wheels like the 60 trim or 60-1, I faced reality and realize that for everyday driving with 94 oct. a 50 trim would be much more efficient, and still give me a good deal of horsepower both on the street and at the strip.

I know the 660s wont be enough I was going to trade them for some 750s. I know what your saying about the fuel management. VPC might be in the near future as well. About the SBR-GT13, I've heard some people say that the .60 trim wheels will surge bad? Anyone have some insight on this?

I love the thought of the FP3055 but number one they are what 1750 bucks? Number two I would have to somehow fabricate an o2 housing that uses those V-band clamps for another what 350 bucks? So that turbo would cost me about 600 more than the other high priced turbos.

There are SOOO many different turbos to choose from right now.. If you want that kind of power where 11s are easy and BB you have 3 basic choices..

AGP L3R
SBR GT13
FP 3065 (not 3055).. the 3065 is like a bigger better version of the L3R.

the choice is up to you on price/customer service. All 3 of the turbos will get you where you want to go.

What do you think about this turbo. It looks like it would fall inbetween the L2r and L3r.

Don't forget a extra $400 or so for a 40mm Tial to run on the FP30. You'll also need a oil feed line, I don't beleive one is included. If the O2 housing they sell has Vband on both sides you'll also have to pay to have your downpipe modified.

Im not worried about the 40mm I need one anyway. I guess I will call them up and see if they have the 02 housings yet with the vbands on them.

You're going to spent at least 1800 for a 3065. no 02 housing, and no external gate. If you are considering a turbo this size, I would go with AGP's full Garrett L3r setup. O2 and external gate included. you also get a SFP manifold. the tubing is routed away from the big water pipe and lower water neck so that if you feel the need for a TSo4 compressor cover agp has you covered. The FP3055/65 uses a cloned garret 4bolt turbine housing, why not just get the real thing? agp gives you a tubular manifold and o2 housing, and external gate all included. need a 3" o2 in place of the 2.5"? again AGP has you covered.
time for a pic:

Don't tell me another buyer is going to back out. Just what I need.

If you say your going to buy something, do it. For $1225 or so for my turbo, you can't go wrong. Includes oil feed line with filter, water line, and I'll even give you the RRE SS turbine gasket.

When did I say I was definitely going to buy it? You posted it was sold but the buyer backed out? I said I would let you know if I was going to buy it, and my inquire was not engraved in stone. That I was definitely going to buy it from you.

Wasn't talking to you. Delta rotary was the one buying my turbo. He was suppost to arrange payment yesterday, then he post this.
