I have a few 14b questions:

I just got a really good deal on a 14b and it came with a polished compressor housing that is not on it, the housing inlet I.D. is larger than the inlet on the turbo, how can I find out if this is a 14b compressor housing or a 16g compressor housing? The polished housing does taper in some to a smaller diameter but I cannot tell if it gets as small as the 14b, I also do not have a micrometer to measure but I may be able to locate one.

If this is a 16G housing, what else will I need to turn this turbo into a 16G?

The turbo is already heavily ported, I took some pictures of it next to a stock 14b that I have. I believe the wastegate has already been upgraded, can anyone confirm this from the pictures?

If its a 16G housing you can get a 16G w/o a housing and just put it on yourself, you can find them at MACHV

Thanks, but from what I have read, the difference between a 16G and 14B is the compressor wheel and housing, if I already have the housing (which I need to know how to check) couldn't I just get the wheel then have the whole thing balanced?

I believe it already has the larger waste gate flapper also so I shouldnt need to upgrade that.

Any help is appreciated.

A 16G has blades that look like they are "doubled" up.

I know that is a 14B wheel, what I am saying is I have another housing that I think may be a 16G housing, if thats the case, can I just get a 16G wheel and have a 16G? Also, how do I check which housing I have?

well my freind did that to his 14b housing i have no clue how he did it but he made it work he got the 16g compresser off line but he wont tell me whats the website but if i find out ill let u guys kno

Just put the housing on and look at how much clearance there is between the compressor blades and the housing. There should be less than one millimeter of clearance. The porting looks REALLY nice.

Well I pulled apart the bad 14b in those pictures last night and placed that wheel inside the polished housing, there is a lot of extra room which makes me believe its a 16G housing. I am going to try to find someone locally (maybe DSM-Performance) that can tell me for sure what I need to upgrade to a 16G and see if they can balance it for me.

The porting looked really nice to me too, thanks for the compliment, I was just a little worried they took too much off, but even if they did, its just a 14B, who cares...LOL.

Thanks for the replies.
