A friend of mine told me that the standard air to fuel ratio gauges put out by liek greddy and autometer are only acurate up to 6 psi and after that its only guessing after that. Is it true? and if it is what can you use or do to get an accurate messure to make sure your not running 2 rich or lean?

ignore the blinky lights a/f guages and get an egt gauge. an egt will help you figure out if ur running lean.

Do a little bit of research on wideband oxygens sensors like FJO or Techedge and you'll see the reason why people say that a stock A/F is only good for lean/stoich/rich.

1) Air/Fuel ratio gauges are not accurate at any psi

2) There is no "stock" air/fuel sensor (there is an oxgen sensor of course)

3) Air/Fuel gauges will show you if your oxygen sensor is working

4) EGT gauges are an alternative

5) Wideband O2 sensors are also an alternative, but I believe they are very expensive.

--> If you're serious about tuning, don't bother with the Air/fuel gauge. Pass it up and get an EGT gauge instead

and yes, I have an Autometer A/F gauge OMG , and yes, it's worthless. But it came with the car

I have an Autometer Air/fuel gauge, I wouldn't say that it's accurate, but I also wouldn't say that their not accurate.

They are good to tell if you are running rich or lean, if you are looking for accurate numbers, than you out of luck, the reason why, is that every blinking light is equal to .0-.4V meaning if you are running with one green light at WOT , it's reading .70-.75, it could be .73 and you won't know, you only have to assume your between .70-.75.

An EGT gauge is the best way to go, if your running high EGT your running lean, if you have low EGT your running rich.

If you relly want to get an Air/Fuel gauge get the digitals ones, they are more accurate, you can actually see the voltage, here's the link:

Sorry but I love this. Look at the first Sig, total rice. Now look at the second. "DMG758: ricers keep a lot of expensive #### in their cars" Total anti-rice. Sorry, I've been on a rice-hunt lately, I'm done.

From what I've heard, to "really" tune a car properly, you need both an EGT and a/f with a wide band. Exhaust gases will change temp as you advance and retard the timing. So you could be running a good a/f ratio but have the timing retarded and you'll see high EGT numbers. Just food for thought.
