stupid...but i need to know.

i was changing my fuel filter the other day and noticed the exhaust. it looks fairly new. it does have rust, it's not SS, but it's clean looking. i looked through the reciepts the guy gave me when he sold me the car and i can't find anything about an exhause upgrade. i found a reciept for a new cat. it was like $200 and some change. so i went down there and put a tape measure around it and it's 8" in diameter on the outside. i need to know if that is stock exhaust or what? i didn't check the downpipe but it looks about the same size. i was getting ready to buy a full exhause from the downpipe to the muffler, but i don't want to spend the money if i already have one.

i don't mean to sound like a stupid noob but i guess that's the way it sounds. any help would be appreciated.

8"??? do you mean the O.D. of the muffler is 8"? If your tubing is that, I would HAVE to see it to believe it

Did you measure around the pipe (circumference)?? If so, then...

2*(pi)*radius = 8 inches.

radius = 1.27 inches.

diameter = 2.54 inches.

Is that what you meant?

yea i measured the circumference. . so that means it's aftermarket because isn't OEM 2.25"?
