Is there a differance in a stock turbo and a jspec turbo

i own a 96 eagle talon i did an engine swap to make mine turbo i bought the turbo off a friend he owns an 1g all wheel drive eclipse its a jspec motor that he has and he claims that it is better than a stock turbo and he is charging me $400 for it

Its the smaller turbo like the ones on a 2nd gen

No its not. Most J-Spec turbo's are 14b's. The same as what comes on stock 1G turbos. The stock 2G is a T25 which is smaller than a 14b. Occasionally you get an EVO motor that has a 16G on it but those are mighty rare. Most J-Spec motors are nothing more than engines out of Galant VR4's.

You would pay $400 bucks for a stock 1G turbo? Are you serious? You can buy a used 16g for that. Or hell buy a new one for 150 more.

On top of that 50% of the turbos I have seen that come off of JDM engines are utter crap.

he has $200 of my money and he was going to let me pay it off becouse i dont make just a whole lot of money but if it would be better to get another turbo that would increase the power that much more for the same price thats probly what i should do huh?
