Sorry for all the million and one questions, but I'm doing what I can in preparation for this weekend. For all intensive purposes, this turbo installs just like a 16g minus the j-pipe. I've also printed and read the vfaq article on the 16g install. Here are my questions:

What vendors or kits offer an oil return setup? Should I switch to a 94gsx line, go with an aftermarket setup, or just reuse the 2G line by spacing the holes?

Can the crush washers be purchased elsewhere other than Satin?

Is it safe to just bend the water feed/return lines into shape? Looking at the pics in the Vfaq, the kink looks like it would hinder the flow considerably. Once again is it just more advisable to pick up a set of 94gsx lines?

Lastly, would the 94gsx oil return and water feed/return lines just bolt up without modifications?

As always, thanx in advance! :dsm:

reuse the 2G return. bends can be made quite nicely with a properly sized screwdriver or something else that will fit in the tube. just bend a little and pull it out a little, bend a little, pull it out a little, et cetera. crush washers can be purchased from any hardware store (btw Satin is nice and soft). reuse the water lines off of the t25 if you can, I believe I used mine or maybe one of them was the 14b line-you should be able to work it out. you can always extend the factory rubber lines by replacing with a longer piece of 3/8" I.D. fuel injection hose.

update your profile as well

I hoped you'd appreciate the humor. Some people get all pissy.

Now that I think about it though, I think the water lines may be 5/8", instead 3/8" better measure first.

Nah, I'm all about being mellow and pacifistic (sp??). Anyways, I asked for help and advice, and if I goof, I just laugh with it. Late night Java programing cramming tends to lead to slurs in proper english.

On last quick question. I'm specifically told not to use any kind of thread sealer (silicon, etc.) so the seal depends on the threads correct? Is there anything that can be used. Oh, one more OMG Did u replace the oil return gastets or just reuse the stock ones? Where can I get them? From Satin (<----LOL).

which threads were you wanting to seal? I was ablt to reuse the return tube to oil pan gasket, however my turbo to return line gasket got mangled so I used some liquid gasket maker that was gas/oil resistant. I'm surprised my post 2 came out as good as it did. that was at 2:00am after about 8 hours of physics

I was just asking about them in general. Basically it'ld be the banjo bolts (but they use the crush washers), so just the oil feed line from the oil filter housing. Now that I think about it, guess I just answered my own question, LOL ;)

I remember physics! 2 years of Aerospace ENGR at A&M aka pre-business! Whoop!

Personal preference follows here.

BUT I HATE water lines.

As long as the turbo is NON-BB, you do not need them. Drill/Tap to close them off, swap to a different water pipe/thermo housing, or just loop the lines.

Makes swapping a turbo so much easier.

For the oil return line. I would personally cut the flex section out of it, and double hose clamp some -10an on. Much more flexible, and so much easier to work with. -10an is somewhat a tight fit onto the return, so you may opt to use 5/8's fuel line/heater hose. If you don't use -10an, I would check the heater/fuel hose every so often for deteroriation.

it is easier I think (not to mention much more reliable) to just file the holes closer on the oil return. I would rather not be relying on a hose clamp to keep all of the oil in my oil pan as well.

Do NOT use fuel hose for coolant or vice versa - there is a 3/8 hose particularly for coolant. You must always use the correct type hose for Power steering fluid, gas or coolant.

When you remove the oil return tube, you'll likely destroy the current gaskets and will need new ones. Some turbo vendors include new gaskets with the turbos they sell, but if you don't have any, Satan is probably your best bet. When I helped with a turbo swap, not only did the gaskets rip apart when we took off the oil return, but it required significant cutting and scraping to get the old gaskets completely off.

oil and gas need specific rubbers (yes I said rubbers) that won't degrade in the presence of these chemicals. But why do you say coolant? It's simply di water and ethelyne glycol, a long chain molecule similar to plastic used simply as a buffering agent to change the freezing and boiling points of water. The stuff is inert, doesn't matter what you get it on.

besides, on mine, the rubber lines were long enough to reach the hard lines (about 3 too long in fact)

I just installed my B16G last weekend. You can use your stock water/coolant lines......you will haveto bend them somewhat, but trust me you'll be fine......

As for you oil return, line......just save yourself time and shell out 40 bucks for a 94GSX line......you can file out the holes to fit........but if you over do it, you WILL leak oil.......
