oh yeah, and I do realize that it could be done cheaper (by yourself), but this is the cheapest price I have seen a place advertise to have it done.

damn man that really is cheap, u think they do a good job? (note: not being sarcastic!) u think that requires a core. cause i really need a new short block.

I saw that to and it's the best price that I have seen. I emailed them and they told me that you don't need a core for that price. Any one know if they are any good?

damn thats way cheap, wonder if anyone has got anything from them yet? Thats the cheapest 2.4 that i know of by a longshot.:dsm:

That is super cheap prices!!! If anyone has used one of these shortblocks please reply!! I was planning on paying more like 2000, and thought that was a good price. If you add all the parts up, you can barely do it for cheaper yourself!! with machining and everything, plus this way you dont have to worry bad machining and stuff. I am very interested and am going to email this company and see what exactly they have to offer. Hope to hear from people. Also, Would that 2.4l be useable with our heads?? nate

well, the guy that (I think) owns this shop is on the mirage forum that I hang out on and I sold him an ECU once too, he seems to know what he is doing, but I get the feeling that he is just starting his business. I'll go post on the other forum and see if I can get him over here and get everyone their questions answered.

Maybe they can charge less because they didn't go through all that expense of registering their own domain name and just use an subdomain off of homestead. Nah. Couldn't be.

Well I called them, And they hardly spoke english. So I wrote them an email, and asked them some questions here are the answers i got:

So how many engines total have you built and sold?**65 in total mitsubishi honda
toyota nissan **

How long is your
warranty on your assembly? **1 year**
and what does it cover? **oil pump cover**

about the cut crank, on
your website it says "machined crankshafts" I am wondering if you could sell
one to me that is stock size, meaning not machined?**it depends if you look for
2.0 or 2.4. yes Precision Grind Crank Shaft If Is Necessarry
**

Could you give me the
name of the machine shop you use for boring?*not that machine they use single
that they are the best ones**

and you use them for the honing
too?** the machine shop honing the block **

Who check over the clearances? **the machine shop check over and clearances they
are the best thing in performance engine **

That is a direct copy and paste out of my email. As you can see they arent very literate. Dont understand basic questions very well. Like I asked what the warranty covered, and they said oil pump cover.? It is such a good price for a 2.4l...But i dont know if i want to risk getting a POS engine. Let me know if anyone else talks to them. Nate

Yeah I heard about these guys on (another) DSM board a long while back... Same conclusion... Really kinda sketchy as noones' used them!

I don't think I'd risk it though. Just read ANOTHER howell horror story a day or two ago... Frankly I have yet to read a "success" story so... Uhh... I'm just gonna stay away from prebuilt stuffs.. :p

That was my plan also..to get a race shortblock from sbr. Pretty good prices there. Another place i looked at was powderblastco.com They built circle track engines i believe and have alot of experience in engine building. Its between them and sbr for me. Unless i find out something good about this "rpmxtreme" Nate

I already sent my 91 head out to Mike at SBR. The guy always responds to my emails quickly and is very helpful. By the pictures on his site, it appears he aligns the block by the crank journal for machining and uses a torque plate, which from what I’ve been told is the proper way to do it. Proper machining and a good price, I’m going to go with him…when I save up enough.

Holy lord! $1800 for a built 4g64!!! I'll take 3 OMG The only way I would do something like that is IF I was in Orlando and they built me the motor THEN I would pay them AFTER I made sure I got everything. Buyer beware.

GVtalon, Mike is an excellent guy from my experience with him. I recently bought a turbo from him and he has been really great with me. Havent got the turbo yet.. should be this week sometime. But i have asked him many questions about his shortblocks. He uses all the correct methods, torque plate, 3 step honing i believe..etc. A built engine for 2199 is a good price. Nate P.S. cant wait to get my turbo:thumb:

i live in orlando now so i'll check them out and tell you guys exactly
whats going on.

Sounds good. Get back to all of us because if everything checks out and is good I'm sure me along with many other willing be buying a new engine.

Using the wiseco/eagle motor as an example.... Add up all the parts cost and they come out to well over $1000 by themselves. Then consider their price is no core required. I guess they do all the machine work for free. I bet they take their time and do a great job  If your gonna invest a large sum of money into your car dont you want to feel the least bit secure knowing your getting quality work? Probably not...
