i was looking into getting a set of web cams and i was wondering if anyone had good or bad luck wiht them. also what other kinds would people sugest. the best place i found the cost to be is at turbo trix $445. i was also a little confused about liffters and springs. do i need to buy stronger springs and liffters. please help. i wanted to get most of my engine work done before the end of feb.:thumb:

I strongly suggest against Web Cams. I know alot of people who have gone with web cams because of cost only to turn around and sell them to get HKS cams.

You can get a set of HKS cams for around 500, you dont need stronger springs or lifters unless you intend on changing the rev limit on the car.

:D True !!!! I love my 272/272 HKS cams the only issue is these cams and my 20g seems to put my shift point right whare my rev limiter hits and I hate that. I want to raise my rev limiter soon cuz the powerband is still pulling hard till I hit the rev limit and studder out between shifts.

i know the feeling or I should say I knew the feeling.. When I had my Crower stage 2 they pulled hard all the way to 8500.. that was fun.. I cant wait to get my HKS cams into the X:)

what HKS cams should i get some people talk about the 272s. do i need a larger lobe or a smaller one for my steup. also is ebay the best place to get them?

What he said!!:D

all my mods are in my profile. i still want a streetable car but with a def lumpy idle.:D

I would try the Crower stage 2 series they have. My friend has em and they have the ability to handle alot of upgrades for a good street/strip cam.
I dont know anyone with WEB cams here in my aera. So I cant speak on it.
But if you want to spend a lot more you can try the HKS 264/264. I hear people speak on 264/272 combo, but I dont know anything about the performance side. I mean I never seen any dyno pulls or real stuff on it to believe it. I think HKS would of designed this combo if the real performance was there in there research. I think some guy just did this one day and seen what would happen if he tryed this combo. I dont know.

run the HKS 272/272.. you have a 20G which should push enuf power to take advantage of the increased top end flow with the 272s vs the midrange of the 264s..

And as I said on crower, its like you have 1 in 10 chance of getting a set that doesnt need to be degreed horribly.

Any of you guys running the 272/272 with speed-density? I have "heard" of problems with idle and running due to poor vacuum signal due to the overlap. I hope to upgrade here eventually and was leaning towards the 264/272 combo. But, I would go larger for the additional power as long as it was not going to cause me problems later on when I change from MAS to speed-density.

Any comments from those using speed-density with HKS cams, with with VPC or standalones?

The VPC is the the only piggyback that is going to have a problem with a low vaccum signal. ANY big cam is going to have some problems with the VPC. However the HKS should have the least amount of problems because it is degreed correctly. IMO if you arent getting 15mg vaccum at idle with 272s you are doing something wrong.

Woohoo, i got 15mg of vacuum.
Sorry, just like it when something goes right on my car.:p

I run the web cams "street grind" and love them. I have had them for about a year and a half, no problems and they really helped out high rpm power. I also run stock springs an retainers, 8500rpm redline.

i just ordered a pair of web cams street grind and fidanza cam gears from turbotrix. granted, my car is majority stock, it wont be for long, and im going all out while the block is out... save bolt ons for later

I have the crower Stage 2 cams. My MPH went from 111-ish, barely a 112 MPH to 119MPH with cams and a couple PSI of boost. The 111-ish MPH was with 1g MT cams, too.

HKS seem to be the "best", but they are pricey. My Crower's weren't my first choice, they were just cheap and local at the time. I am happy with them. Nice lumpy idle, and lots of power. (Check out my website for a video of my car idling with these cams. Sounds nice, IMO.)
