modding a 1st gen awd turbo...

i plan on purchasing a 1 gen dsm here in about two weeks. I plan on building the motor, tranny, and suspesnion. I know this is going to be a fairly broad question but I'd appreciate any insight. I've heard it to be most cost effective to use 1 gen and 2 gen parts to build the most complete motor. I am shooting for 450 whp on race gas. If someone could help compile the most cost effective mod list to do so it would be appreciated. Also any advice on suspension and tranny work is appreciated. If the motor works, don't rebuild it till you absolutely need to. That's the most cost effective approach. You can achieve your 450hp on a stock bottom end, provided it's a 6bolt motor.

Other than that, FP Green turbo, 660-720 injectors, 2g mas and afc/vpc/aem, fmic, hk$272's, and most importantly TUNING!!!

Send the trans to shepherd or TRE if you want the best rebuild.

Throw some eibach prokits on stock shocks and struts for the most affordable drag suspension.
