So I installed a Greddy UICP, Greddy Type RS BOV and then cleaned my K&N intake with the K&N recharge kit. All went well- cold started it and idle seemed normal, RPM's jumped a bit higher than normal and lingered above 1000+ RPM's more than usual, but I thought nothing of it.

I take it for a drive- I notice I'm getting some compressor surge so I stop at a gas station and soften the BOV. I then start driving again and then notice that my car is searching for idle. As I pop it out of gear and neutral/brake toward a stoplight, my RPM's stick up near 1500. After a complete stop, it takes a couple of seconds for it to drop to 1100. After that, it drops to 800 then it goes back to 1100. From 1100 to 800 back to 1100 takes about three seconds.

What could be wrong? I may have overoiled the the K&N filter a bit, but I let it sit and dry for about two hours while excess oil dripped off. Before I put it back on, I shook some excess off. I don't think it could be a boost leak- I hit 14 psi and it crawls into 17 because I don't have a cat and I guess my wastegate on the T25 isn't efficient enough.. I should keep off it- fuel system is stock.

About the car before today - P0505 every now and then, IAC malfunction, I'd say it would happen at least 2 times a day with about 5 short trips (under 30 minutes). It's weird though, because with the old EXTREMELY dirty filter and stock UICP, it didn't have any symptoms besides throwing the code. Also, with the 20 minute trip home after installing the parts, I didn't throw the code once. Stock boost level before today's install was 10-11 PSI and would drop to 8 by redline.

Any ideas guys?

The BISS screw - thats the one that sticks straight up on top and adjusts idle levels? I'm not too familar with it.

Anyway, lets say oil did get on the MAF. How do I go about cleaning it up?

Also, my BOV is recirculated. it's on there pretty tight, I'll try redoing it just in case.

Anybody else have any ideas?

has your ecu ever been rebuilt i had kinda the same problem. did everything i could think of, and everythign people said to do then i pulled the ecu and sure enough it had leaking caps in it :(. but now i have a rebult ecu and it runs great :D

I spoke with my K&N rep, he told me that the combination of over-oiling the filter, and the close proximity of the maf would definitely cause idling problems. Use CRC #05110 Mass Air Sensor cleaner to clean it out. You should be able to find this stuff at any parts house here in the bay. Hope this helps bro.

well there are instuctions and it tells you how much oil to use and not to over oil it

Thanks for all the help guys. Yeah, the BOV was brand new when I put it on. Should I give the spring some time to "break in" before I start to adjust for compressor surge? I still get a little of it if I let off while not building much boost.

Also, wouldn't a boost leak cause my idle to fall, not rise? My idle problems never dip down below what my previous idle had been set at.

This was my first recharge and I wanted to be careful, but was also on a time constraint. I may have over-oiled the filter, that's my bad. Looks like I'll be pulling the air filter off and cleaning the MAF up with the suggested product.
